I must say, you guys are really great. The positive energy is fantastic. My surgery is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 23rd. About 5 1/2 weeks from now. Things are starting to pick up, and to think I thought this day would never arrive. I've got so many doctor visits planned, I just know the surgery date will get here before I realize it.

I'm a big, in more ways than one, lol, USC football fan. Season has started off well. My boss is on board for my procedure, very positive thinker he is. I did have a moment of "what have I gotten myself into", however that was quickly dismissed, when I began thinking of how wonderful it was to be thin (many years ago, mind you).

Tomorrow night I return to the support group I was attending, before I was involved in a car accident. One of my goals, you may think strange, is once I lose my weight, is to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain and ride all of the rides, well maybe not all, exp the ones that spin, but the roller coasters for sure. I've avoided all theme parks as I have seen people wait in the lone lines only to reach the ride and be told they are too big for the ride. I never wanted to put myself up for embarrassment. Never gave a second thought to go swimming in a pool with others, but I wouldn't want to be embarrassed by someone else telling me I couldn't ride any ride, so I avoided the parks.
Not any more, I tell you. By this time next year I will have my annual pass and in the process of wearing it out.

Socalmomof2grownkids = tomorrow is your day, how wonderful for you.

The screen name is a long story, glad it tickles some of you, lol.

I feel like you all are family, the kind that doesn't get to see each other as often as they'd like, but it's like a reunion on here, thank you.

First off welcome.

Next, my RNY was NOTHING like my appy. For the RNY they are working on the upper tummy so you feel it even when you take a breath. To me there was not the pain that I had with the appy at all just a bit uncomfortable to get up.

I was able to go back into the office a week after surgery and was working from home the Monday after I got out of the hospital. It totally depends on your surgery, your body, your emotional state, and your doctor. Please do not start down the road of comparisons as it is a dead end and it ends in hell.

I thought I'd only be off for two weeks, as I have a very cake job. I ended up taking off 5 weeks...............I just felt I needed it, and deserved it. I am 53 years old, and with the exception of two years of Nursing School (1974-1976), I have been working full time since I was 16 years old. I have had of course the two weeks vacations over the years, but I just felt I needed the time to take care of me, and enjoy my journey. I planned very carefully for the time off, saving money for the 7 months before the surgery to do so. Can you take the 6 weeks, and then if you want, go back early?

Strange... indeed not strange at all. I remember a thread of post-op dreams, and riding 6 Flags or Disney and fitting into all the rides was on the top of many lists.

Mine was to fit into a Go-Cart... and indeed, I fit with plenty of room to spare and the seat belts didn't have to stretch to their limit either. It was a great day.

I wish for you THAT great day at 6 Flags you've been looking forward ~ and I know it's coming very, very soon.

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!

I don't want to end in hell, lol. I'm getting different feedback from people, guess it all depends on how my surgery goes. I hope I am much the same as your experience, back on my schedule asap. However, if I need the time, I've worked here for over 30 years, I'm sure I can take it.

Thank you for your words of wisdom, about the comparisons.

Best,

Casey

I think if I was off more than a couple of weeks, I'd start to get cabin fever. I love my work and like to be at work. I also like my vacations, I've almost 2 months of vacation time saved, I get 4 weeks a year and only use about 2 weeks a year. I end up taking a vacation day here or there so that I don't lose them.

The great thing about this site is the diversity and different experiences, yet the same goals.
