Default New from California

Hello All.

New from California. I joined back in Janurary 2009. This is my first post. However, i have been reading and more importantly LEARNING from others since day one. At first i was really excited about my new journey. I couldn't wait for my surgery date. But now that i have one, July 1, 2009, i can honestly admit... I'm nervous!!! Not to the point of cancelling, but my mind is busy. Busy with thoughts and what if's.

I'm glad this site exist. I'm glad that others share experiences because it truely helps.

Thanks,
Bear (I recieved my name from my niece, and love it.)

Hey man welcome aboard!!!

And don't worry about the fact of being nervous. We all was in the same shoes as you. When you start feeling nervous start saying to yourself. Self I'm gonna look so good when I get this done. And the most important thing is how much better you'll feel as the weight goes away.

July 1st is wednesday and thursday will be the begining of a whole new you. So good luck and ask away on any question you'll have..

Oh and a good tip for ya. Who ever goes to visit you after the surgery is completed make sure they bring you chapstick. Trust me you'll thank me for it..

Good Luck!!!

Welcome and congratulations. It's so exciting. It's normal to be nervous. Hang in there - you'll do great! Good luck.

Hi Bear - welcome to Thinner Times.

My "what if's" were "what if I continued my life the way it is" rather than "what if something happens during surgery". So that's how I rationalized my choice.

My anxiousness was that something might happen that would cancel surgery - I wanted it soooo bad. Everything went smooth and like clockwork.

Keep focused on what it is you want this surgery to do for you. To take pain away; to rejoin life and living; to play with my kid; to walk without needing oxygen; etc., and be at peace on the day of. The best is yet to be... I'm a great example of my life getting supremely better.

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!

It's just about July 1 - so hopefully you're enjoying your new life (or at least recovering nicely in the hospital).

Gotta tell you - your post took the words right out of my mouth! My surgery was bumped up from 7/27 to 7/13. I was cool as a cucumber when it was the 27th - but now that it's so close I'm really nervous.

Look forward to hearing how you're doing!
