To all that replied, thanks for the support. You just proved why i'm glad that i joined TT. To come home from the hospital, and login, and see supportive emails, comments and thoughts speaks a lot about TT.
Well, as i posted earlier, i had my life change experience, a.k.a. surgery, on July 1. My surgeon, Dr. Alvarez, Kaiser, said everything went very well. My stomach was on empty, and my liver was small enough and not in the way. (I was really nervous about my liver being too large).
The morning of my surgery i had a slight delay. I checked in at 6am, with a surgery start time of 8am. While waiting, an emergency patient arrived at the hospital and i got BUMPED!!! I watched the clock, but it was like time stood still. I swear the batteries were low in that clock because time crawled!!!
They called me in at 7:00, and surgery was for 9:15. During Pre-OP, i really tried to stay relaxed because i did not want my BP to rise. My surgery lasted approximately 3 hours. It took about 2 hours for me to wake up from anesthesia.
Well, I don't the proper "Blog Rules" so i'm going to sum things up quickly, but if your interested let me know and i will gladly continue to share.
Okay, all in all, i was in the hospital 2 days, 2 nights. What i do want to share is that my experience was not bad at all. No complications! I'm glad i went through it! I'm glad i followed the Pre-OP rules from my Surgeon, and the helpful hints to better my stay at hospital from TT.
Now that i'm on the other side, my plan is start researching great advice regarding POST OP/Recovery from TT, and sharing my experience to others that are interested or need support.
Thanks again for all the support TT. I look forward to more in the near future.
Bear

Welcome home, Bear... from what I read, your post-up attitude is terrific. Your healing will be over in no time flat and the losses, as we speak, have begun.
Congratulations!

All, thanks for staying in touch. A quick update. I'm still walking everyday. The one minor setback for me is the burning sensation surrounding my the area of a few of my stitches (area). My stitched area to the right, are not bothering me at all. However, the left,,,,,These are different.
For the last 3 days, the area around my left stitches has a burning sensation. Now this is not a constant feeling, only when standing, walking or bending over. When i'm sitting, or lying, i have no problem at all.
This morning during my walk, i held the bottom of my stomach with both hands and slightly lifted it up. Now to some, you think but i look crazy walking, holding his stomach. But i tell you, i didnt feel the burning sensation, and i completed a second lap around my block.
I now believe this is not related to gas, but is related to the muscle tissue repair process, which will pass. (LOL, i laugh because if there is muscle in there, it's been buried for years, LOL).
Now, i do have an regular check post-op appointment with my surgeon Friday afternoon. I definitely plan on sharing this with him. Hopefully I'm right. I will tell you this.....I enjoyed my walk this morning.

I had that burning sensation, but on my right side. I walked around holding my right side, pressing against it. No, pressing didn't make it feel better, but it felt somewhat better to hold on to it.
Anyway, it went away, but eventually, like after a month or more. If it was a possible hernia, it was too soon to do anything about it. I had no tests on my right side. My doctor said he didn't want to do any hernia repair until I reached at least 250, of if the pain became unbearable. Meanwhile, I took Oxycontin for the pain.
When I ran out of Oxycontin, the pain was no longer there, and the burning hasn't returned since.
Now, I do have 2 real CT scanned hernia's on my left side. Interestingly, the true hernia pain on the left is minimal, like a light burning discomfort, and occasional. On my right side, the non-hernia, what turned out to be muscle pain, was sizable and constant.
Let us know what your doc thinks.
