Hey Carol.. I promised Claire I'd say howdy back, earlier today.. it took me till now to be able to get back online so I could do so.. So.. HOWDY! Welcome to TT. Lots of good stuff.. sometimes we fight and argue but try to look past.. most people have their hearts in the right place.. and sometimes we (me, included) can act like a bit of a butthead. lol.

Anyway.. welcome. Good luck on your journey.

Great signature line, Carol! Quick learner, girl!!

Interesting to me that some of your responses on this thread are from old timers whom I know very well, and some, like Beth, are new like you. This is the joy of this forum. We can relate so well to the difficulties of being where we are when we are new, and we can look forward to the joy we see in other's journeys that are of a longer duration.

Mike Fisher writes beautifully. He has his personal story called The Long Road - if you look that up in the search feature at the top, you will find it. It is truly volumes of feelings from an extraordinary man. He comes to mind because I just read his latest post. There are so many wonderful stories here....stories from which I have learned so much.

Eric (OsoDelDesierto) is someone whose story is fascinating! He and I are close personal friends - a wonderful man, intense and committed to this journey. He looks like a movie star...<sigh> He approached me as I boarded the ship in December for the T-T cruise, and spoke to me. I had no idea who he was. I had his "fat" picture in my head. When he told me, I hugged him so long and so tight and just couldn't let him go. I will never, in fact, let him go.

Corrine, who responded to this thread calls me her mentor. I'm flattered and humbled by that, but in fact, we have been there for each other from the moment we met in the early summer of 2007. We have been very close since then, on and off this board. She lives in WA state. We met in real life twice - once in Washington before the cruise, and then spending a glorious week together in Miami Beach and on the ship.

There are a lot of people here that have traveled my journey with me, and for whom I am very grateful.

Carol, take a lot of pictures of yourself now, from all angles. Take your measurements now. ALL of them, including upper arms, thighs, etc. These will be tools for you as you go along your journey. I couldn't stand the camera early on, and this was a mistake on my part.

xoxoxo

Default A "Wow" Moment

Don't know if this qualifies, but it's important to me. My step-mother, Claire-in-Texas, told me about this site. So far, I've really been impressed. My "Wow" moment? Putting down my actual weight in black and white and posting a real picture of myself. I've never shared either with anyone in quite some time! As my weight has increased, I've tried to hide it even from myself. So here's to honesty and jumping in with both feet!!

Carol

Carol, every moment of coming to grips with life is a WOW moment. Yours certainly qualifies!

The main reason I am so glad you are here is because we have all come to realize a lot about ourselves here, and in our hearts and souls. Coming here can give it a voice. This forum is where I gave it a voice.

One of the threads I began a long time ago had to do with finding one's authentic you. Think about that. Have you ever gotten to know your authentic you? I never did, many of us here didn't. I have now found my authentic me, the me I never knew I was. It was a series of revelations, and all about the WOW moments...... And you described a very important one above, and I think you found your courage to do that in this arena.

If I wasn't so directionally challenged, I'd know where Round Rock is. I know I've heard of it. Hope your journey goes smoothly...seems a lot of posts I read show at least one roadblock along the way. I'm doing the 6 month supervised diet. I'm on my 4th month. Feel free to row these uncharted waters together!

Hi Carol! I just got to your thread (so much to catch up on here if you're away for a day!)...Claire was able to answer the locale question. Round Rock is basically a suburb of Austin--about 18 miles north. There is something I need to confess though, so I might as well get it out in the open now.
I'm not a native Texan. Yes...I'm just an aspiring Texan. I'm a Yankee by birth. Whew...glad I got that out of the way up-front.
I look forward to taking the trip with you, Carol. If all goes well--and I believe you and I as the noobs here have already learned to hope for the best but expect some caca to hit the fan--we could be taking the leap around the same time!

...here's to change!
