Please help me find posts of those who regret WLS
I really want to read everything I can about those who have not had surgeries that went well - how do I locate them?
I've read tons of posts about the success stories, but I am one of those anal ones who need to know EVERY detail.....lol.

Research and try to stay positive.
Hello,
There are some people on this site who have had a rough time, where things did not go so well after surgery. I myself am pre-op and initially felt the need to know everything, in a way a still do, but I really wouldn't focus on the negatives. I've come across some people who had it rough, despite this they still didn't regret having the WLS in the long run.
I'm having the gastric sleeve and at first found it a little difficult to find as much information to help me feel well informed and to calm my nerves. Fewer people on this site have had GS, but they're are some. Believe it or not I found must of my info from this site, but also if you do a search on You Tube, you can see and hear all kinds of responses. You can even see a film of the surgery. Also, video's of people hours after their surgery, explaining how they feel. One of my worries was, what will be able to eat with a smaller stomach! Well I was encouraged to see people who post-op preparing various high protein recipes/meals on video. One of my main concerns was how would a meal actually look on the plate. I was pleased to discover it's not so bad. I was able to actually see a plated portion size, a lot smaller but not ridiculously small, I was relieved to see that eventually I will be able to go out and socialise with friends and family, just small portions.
I've not only been researching, but I'm trying to make some changes now. I took it upon myself to book an appointment with my dietician... She didn't know anything much about WLS diets, but promised to look into it. I'm seeing her again tomorrow. Anyhow, we set some goals and looked at what I could do right now. We discussed the way I eat my food, yes, I eat pretty fast. It normally takes me 10 minute to finish a meal. Anyway, chewing and eating slower is one of my goals. I love to cook, so i'm already planning my own high protein recipes. Looking at suitable products to buy for after the surgery, like containers that will have the appropriate measurements so that I can cook and store some of my meals. I'm aware of some of the negative possibilities but I strive to stay positive and upbeat about it all. I went from being extremely fearful and anxious to eagerly waiting in anticipation. I totally get what your going through and I'm wishing all the best on your journey.

I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and the surgery wasnt so bad. really......the emotional stuff is really hard!!!! I have cried so many times, I lost count!!! No matter how much you want this and prepare for it. I don't think you can really understand what it will mean to change the way you feel about food. the (head hunger) I had was terrible and is just starting to improve a little bit. I never realized what a comfort food was to me, not did I realize all the reasons that I eat. This is almost like going thru a death of a friend. All the stages are there.....
Physically, the scars are healing nicely. I expect to have only one scar that might be pretty visible(where the drain was). I am back at work a week now and very very tired.
I wish you well in your journey.
Deb

I havent met anyone who has regretted the surgery. I mean, lots of people have complications, some major, some not even related to WLS, but happened around the same time. But no one regrets it!! How can you. you have a new lease on life.

I am three months out from surgery as of today. I had a pretty serious infection about three days after I was initially released from the hospital. I still have a nurse come to the house and dress the wound site twice a week. Was it painful? Very much so. I had to return to the hospital via ambulance when I was in so much pain I couldn't move on my own. I've had several rounds of antibiotics, and it's a pain to have to have a nurse here often. But does the bad outweight the good? NOT at ALL.
I would go through this again, even if I knew all of this would happen. I am down 47 pounds and this weekend I was able to have fun doing some things that before surgery would have made me too tired and worn out. It was well worth the trouble.

There are several here that post and are quite open that they regret the surgery. Paige is one that pops up off the top of my head.

mine sucked i would never do it again.
im one of the very few who had complications. had it on oct 21 08 and have not been back to work since. after the surgery the next day i had a revision, they went into the same holes to see what the problem was and found nothing. 2 weeks later i felt so week i could hardly move. went back to the surgeon he said yes it concerns me but theres really nothing i can do. i went back there by ambulance 3 days later and stayed in the hospital for 4 days.they still could not find whats wrong. so i asked the arrogant dr. if i could have a referal. he reluctantly gave me one but it wasnt for 3 more weeks. a couple days later i got really bad i was bleeding out my ass and throwing up blood i couldnt move. the ambulance came and got me brought me to the local hospital and wanted to transfer me back to the surgeon who done this procedure on me. he said he gave me a referal and there is nothing more he could do. and the local hospital didnt want to fix what the surgeon messed up so there i laid wondering if i was going to die. they finally got a hold of the dr. that i was refered to and he said bring him here. my vitals were week and in alot of pain so they flew me by helicopter to minneapolis. i was feeling better so 5 days later they released me back home again. i was home for 2 days and then one morning i really started to bleed bad, it was december 5 and i was on the toilet spraying blood out my ass and vomiting blood at the same time. i just rolled off the toilet on to the floor laying in pools of blood. when the rescue squad came to get me i was still laying in the same spot. so back to the local hospital i go. when i get there my blood pressure is 40 over 21, my pulse is 167 and my hemoglobin is 6.2 . i remember thinking i was going to die, and you know what, i was ok with it. i wanted this shit over with. they flew me back to minneapolis which is 2 hrs. away by car only 25 min by air. when i got there they immediatly put a scope down my throat but this time did not knock me out for it. i gagged as they did it and the part that gagged hit the scope and started spraying blood inside my pouch. they clipped it and have been feeling better since. i still have a large pool of blood in my right upper quadrent about 600cc's. they say it will take a year to absorb. i got out 1000cc's of blood thru a drain in the month of dec and jan. i weighed 496 lbs in may, on my surgery day i weighed 427 now i weigh 309 lbs.
there might be a day where im glad i done this, but as of now it has raised havok with my life not to mention what it has done to my family. i had 9 units of blood transfused thru me thru this time period. been in the local emergency room 9 times by car, 3 times by ambulace, and twice by air.

I've not researched the sleeve - sounds somewhat like the band, but I guess you don't have to get it adjusted the rest of your life. Thanks for replying - I wish you well, and will look for your posts post-op! That was a good idea to go on youtube and look for different things - I am also worried about the amount of food on the plate and being hungry all the time. Please remember to let us know how you're doing.
