Red face New here!

Hi! My name is Ashlee, I am a 21 year old Mom of a 2.5 year old little boy, and wife of a soldier stationed here at Ft. Lewis.

I've been contemplating lapband for quite some time now and have been lurking around this forum for some time now, and I can't wait to be a part of it!

I've already gotten approval from my PCM, and have a "group referal consultation" on March 5th.. If any of you have had one can you tell me what its all about? I don't know how I feel about the whole group thing :/

THANKS! And I can't wait to get to know you wonderful ladies (and gents )

Hi Ashlee, and welcome to TT!

There are several very successful banders here, who adore their band and are doing great. Click on down in the band forum to meet them.

There is also lapbandtalk.com... I joined them when I had my band. I found them to be very informative and supportive.

I'm not sure what a 'group referral consultation' is... assuming it's a support group, I find groups truly essential, especially during your journey and 1st year post-op. If you can't find one local, online is better than no group support at all.

Good luck to you!

I just found this: Band Update by Bria

Starting BMI: 60.4 / Current BMI: 33.6

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!

The "group thing" is a VERY big help for many I know. It's a chance to hear others' experiences with overeating and learn more about yourself, why you overeat, and why you have gotten to the point of needing WLS.

I think that every patient who has WLS should be required to have a six month therapy requirement. There's a LOT to learn when you are changing years of bad eating choices.
