Default Hello Everyone

I haven't really looked around the site, but I thought I would say hello and introduce myself.

My name is Wendy and I'm 25 years old. I'm a wife, a mother and a full-time student. I have struggled with weight my entire life. My boys are getting older, are very active, and into sports. I am tired of being a sideline parent. I want to be able to play baseball with them at the park without having to stop to rest.
In May 2008, I peaked the scale at 278 lbs. I live my life for my children, so I was very angry with myself for not taking better care of my health. I spoke to my doctor, and although weight loss surgery was never an option for me, I agreed to keep an open mind. I attended a symposium and got to meet my potential surgeons and hear testimonies from actual patients. I also attended and completed my six month nutrition program. I lost 13lbs. I received notice just this week that my request for the psyche evaluation was approved, so that is scheduled for March 6th, but I might be rescheduled if a slot opens up sooner than said date. I'm not sure what comes next after the psyche evaluation. I have researched both the Roux en Y and Lap Band procedures, however, I am still quite unsure which procedure I will opt for...assuming I decide to go ahead with the weight loss surgery.
I have only spoken about the procedure with my husband and my parents, and they all express the same opinion as myself. That I'm young. That I can lose the weight on my own. However, I want to enjoy my children now, while they are still young...so...they are being understanding and supportive.

...I'm not sure what else to include in my introduction...

Can't wait to get to know everyone.
Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day!

Wendy

Hi Wendy, Like you I am a Younger (26) Mom & Wife. I too have struggled with weight and have been angry for quite sometime that I let myself play on the yo yo diets forever and a day and they have resulted in me regaining weight. I hope you read lots on what you are looking for. I know I am confident that WLS is what I need to be that active wife and parent I know I am inside!
Stay in touch! Good Luck & Happy Vday!

Hi Wendy, welcome to Thinner Times.

Life is difficult for anyone at any age weighing 278. I delivered my son at 277, 15 years ago, and though I spent most of his childhood at about 240, it was really tough. After he turned 8, my weight began to soar even more.

I completely understand that you want to be there and enjoy them now. I hope you get the support you need from your husband and family. I don't know their weight class, but we here all know how difficult it is to just lose 20 when you need to lose 120 (or gosh, more like me).

If I can do it at my age, you surely can do it at your age. I wish you a great post-op life. It's not only FOR your kids, I know it's definitely, for YOU, and you'll make it great.

Day 188: Century Club - 100 lbs down
Day 366: 1 Year - 146 lbs down
Day 396: One-derland - 153 lbs gone forever! (my pic progression)

Starting BMI: 60.4 / Current BMI: 33.6

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!
