My life is finally begining.
Well,as you can see by my name,I am handicapp.I am 30 years old and was born with a disability called Achondroplasia(a form of dwarfism).Through out my life,I had many operations.Which led me to be in a wheelchair.I was eating unhealty which cause me to gain lots of weight.Being that Im 4"6 there is really no where for the fat to go but out.Being short and overweight made my life so hard.I had to move back home with my parents,so they could take care of me.I had gotten so depressed, and didnt know what was in store for my life.Like everyone I heard about the gastric-bypass on television.I was so affraid of having it,because I knew there was a chance of dying, I didnt want to die. But,I now know that going the way Im going I am not going have a long life. So,that is why I made the decision to have the gastric bypass.Right now,Im doing the necessary medical program before I have the operation.Well, thats were Im at right now.If you have any information to give me would be greatly appreciated.all information is good.

Welcome to TT.
My handicap sign expires in September of this year. The way it's going right now, I don't think I'll be needing to extend it.
Are you wheelchaired because of your weight? Do you think you'll be able to kick it out of the house after you lose?
I wish all the best for you, a dramatic and uplifting life change so that you can throw away your label and move onto independence on your own.

Day 396: One-derland - 153 lbs gone forever! (my pic progression)
Starting BMI: 60.4 / Current BMI: 33.6
Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!
I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!

Now that's it! Something truly life-changing to look forward to!
I know the arthritis thing... it's in my left hip, so I'm there with you.
If you don't mind me asking, how much do you want to lose? People here will spank me on this because everyone loses at a different rate, and I don't want to give anyone false hopes on a finite timeline, but do you have a realistic estimation on how long it may take for you to become more mobile?

Hi and Welcome! This is a life changing surgery...before my surgery, my knees and hips and back hurt so bad with arthritis, I was begging my 70+ year old mom for her walker after her knee replacement surgery...Now, I've lost over 110 lbs, and I don't hurt like I used to. I hope you have a very successful journey. It's not always easy, but it is so worth it.

Hi, and welcome the Thinner Times.
There's a wealth of information on these forums. Just keep reading, and you'll learn more than you thought possible. I also recommend reading the book "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies". Dumb title, but it's a great book that will give you a good education on the surgery, what to expect, etc, etc. I bought my copy at Amazon, but it's probably available in most bookstores.
