Hi everyone from Illinois
Hi, I had my lapband on January 13 this tuesday it will be two weeks. I am very happy and someone in our pre op group mentioned this site so I signed up before surgery but have not been on the computer that much. I have not had my picture taken since I gained all my weight the last 5 6 years. I'm 5'2 and now weigh 206 I was 239 in November 2008. I am still too embarrassed to have my picture taken or due it myself. I still am really in sore in 1 spot right under my liver where the port is, that was the largest cut and it still hurts-anybody know when the pain goes away? I have been walking 4 to 5 times a day with my dog at a good pace and it hurts but I am making this change for my 3 year old niece, my twin nephews and me. I want to be alive when the grow up. I will be 41 this July and knew I had to do something. I had to quit smoking, quit coffee and diet pop and stop eating all at the same time. I did that so I am very excited to when I am able to exercise regularly. I can't wait and I can't believe I am saying that. Not even in my skinny days was I an exerciser but I made this change and that involves a whole bunch of other changes and I am trying to go day by day. So far no problems except that one cut under the liver. I had the minimally invasive lapband which was five cuts closed with staples it hurt so bad that finally gave me percocet to take home. I have had 6 other major op's but that was on my right knee and I swear this hurt the most and I totally crushed that right leg in 1992 in an auto accident and had a prosthetic right knee put in finally in 1995 so I could walk without pain. Seems like this turned into a lenghty intro. sorry. I get long winded sometimes. I just want to know when the pain stops it's better now it really only still hurts in that one area and sitting or getting up from off the floor. Thanks and for listening. I am going to go and look around the board foruma and see what everybody has to say post surgery.

Welcome to TT, Marniec. Being post-op is the best to be, even though you're still healing, you ARE losing, and that's why we're all here.
I guarantee that the pain will go away. Staples aren't fun. I can say that my C-section recovery was worse than my lap Lapband which felt like I hardly had surgery at all.
Sorry about your knee... but you're here, you made it, and that's how I look at all those obstacles that challenge your life. You're on top of the world right now, and the world is at your feet. Anything goes. Look toward the positive, and keep optimistic. You had WLS for some very dear reasons (like me)... let's live again! with gusto!
Looking forward to your pics. You should take them of yourself anyway, even if you don't want to post them. For me, it's a reminder of where I was, and where I NEVER want to be again - a psych thing. If I could, I'm going to make a life-size poster of my old self.
All the best to you!

I had RNY surgery the same day as you. We pretty much have the same incisions since they were both done laproscopic. I am still having some pain too, but it is getting better and better everyday. Just keep on the right diet, do some walking and dont over do it. it does get better!! really does.

Thanks eveveryone for your replies. It still hurts but is less. You know on the funnier side I am getting used to eating my three tablespoons of protein for each meal off a baby plate and using a baby spoon. That's what they told us to do and I have. I made it under 200 yesterday. So I think I am doing really good although I know they told us it came off fast than slowed so when I am able (a couple more weeks) am I going to exercise like Rocky....lol I will never see a size 0 at 40 again but looking forward to shopping for new clothes in the summer. Keep losing everyone and thanks for the welcome. Marnie

A baby spoon and smaller plates was recommended to me as well, and in the beginning I used a smaller plate... never bought the spoon.
I think you'll be swimming in your current clothes sooner than summer. Don't go overboard in buying, just a few things here and there to get you through to the next size down, and down, and down.... woo hoo!

Re:baby plate and spoons
I have two 1 year old nephews so we already had the baby spoons and plates from when they were younger...... lol. I do find it very helpful as it does look like more. Have a great day. Oh my starting weight at surgery was 226 On january 13 09 my heighest was the 239 in sept of 08 my lowest nobody wants to know, trust me. I love this board. I tried a few others but it seems quite dead. Glad somebody in my pre-op group mentioned this one.

Hey Everyone,
I just joined the group. My name is Jennifer and I live in evanston Illinois. I also had my surgery on January 13th. I am doing very well actually, but I am dissapointed to have only lost 14lbs since the surgery. I am worried because I dont feel like I am doing as well as everyone else does right after surgery. But I guess everything in it own time. I am sure the weight will come off. I just need to give it a little more time. How is everyone else doing?
