Default New from PA

Hi I wanted to come in and introduce myself. I am considering having the Gastric Bypass Surgery for a while now. I first was going to have it at The Cleveland Clinic but my PA Access Insurance denied me. So I am looking into local places like Altoona with Dr. Newlin, or Conahmaugh Hospital, and I know D. Shauer in Magee Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, and I know there are others in Pittsburgh. I am from Somerset PA. I have been Over weight/Obese all my life. I have been on a number of diets including Weight Watchers, South Beach, Body Makeover, Red Light Green Light, etc. With no luck. This past year I started joining a gym and lost 35 pounds. I am glad of that but I still have to get my eating under control and I feel The Gastric Bypass Surgery my be the tool I need to help me. I weigh 315 the last time I checked at the Gym. I have Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Colestral, Hypothyroidism, and Fatty Liver and I can not live like this any more. I need to do this so I can start my new life.

Hello and welcome! I am from Pittsburgh and I congratulate you for looking into this for yourself. I'm having my surgery w/ Hope Bariatrics at Sewickley Hospital at the end of this month w/ Dr. Michael Felix and they've been nothing but wonderful and my PCP highly recommended them. Whoever you go with I'm sure they'll be right for you. If you ever have any questions please don't hesitate to message me.

Good luck!

Jenn

Welcome to TT... I'm from south central PA.

I know what it's like needing an extra helping tool, and for me, this avenue was the right choice. I considered it for a long time, too.

All the best to you.

Hi there! I'm also in PA, 1/2 hour north of Pittsburgh. I'm using AGH in Pittsburgh (LB), but they have a really good reputation for RnY (the other hospitals in the area, like UPMC-Magee send their 'tough cases' there). Welcome!

I like AGH. I like the hospital and I know the hospital pretty well. In 2007 my Grandma had to have a Bowel Obstruction surgery and a hernia removed and My local hospital and since she is a Jehovah's Witness she went there becasue they work with bloodless processes. They took care of her well.
