Question Post Op...

Hello everybody, I am almost 2 weeks post-op gastric bypass. I was a little amazed and a little nervous as to why I am able to do everything already. I mean I am cleaning and cooking of course with a little pain in the left side. There is one thing I am just not doing too well on.....IM STARVING...Or is that just my brain thinking I am?? I mean I have to cook for everyone and I can't even taste it..I am sick to death of this liquid diet now...Does anyone out there think that I would be able to eat some scrambled eggs or something else? I need food..Im scared and dont want to ruin anything but I need something else to eat. I started out at 356 and at this point I will be weighing myself soon...Help please!!!

Hey Tanya...How long are you supposed to be on a liquid diet mine was just for 7 days and i was only able to do 5 of those 7.lol You should be able to eat eggs after day 14 but try them slowly..i wasnt ready for them until about 20 days. trust me you'd rather wait it out than to throw up and pop a staple. Well I hope this helps you a bit. Take care

I was on liquids for 3 weeks! It was awful! I got dehydrated and re hospitalized and they would not let me advance my diet! Be careful with scrambled eggs. I could not tolerate them until about month 3. My doctor actually cautioned me against them. He said for some reason people get sick on them. I would try to adhere to doctors orders if possible you don't want to mess this up It won't be much longer. I know how hard it is!

I think you should call your nutritionist. We all have different schedules because our doctors are different. He/She would best be able to tell what is right for you.

Hey girl...thank yo for the reply...Im supposed to be on the liquids for 3 weeks then to baby food type.....I put in a call today for a doctor..I am going crazy on this liquid stuff. I mean I feel like vomitting the minute I smell or taste the CIB..I do fine with water but like the creamy soup..YUCK!! The malt o meal..YUCK!! I had no idea it would be this hard. One lady told me that at this point she was eating non fat refried beans with cheese and sour cream???? I was like hell yeah!!! But then again everyone is differnt..The weird thing is that I have been doing everything pretty much the same since I have been home..I just got done cleaning and making breakfast for the kids...Soooo I just dont know girl...I feel so helpless...Thank you for taking the time to respond..Have a great day!

If you get to Stage 2 (puree), try the Quaker Weight Control oatmeal (1/2 packet, extra water). I found that to be very satisfyiing and kept me from being hungry. Same with mashed potatoes. I know both are starchy items, but the oatmeal has protein so it isn't too bad. I was thrilled when my doctor moved me to semi-solid foods 2 days ago. I had my first egg this morning, but hard boiled it. I had read a few folks had trouble with the scrambled eggs. I haven't had any problems, so far (fingers crossed).

Hopefully your dr. will advance you today. Just take it slowly, eat half of what they say to start to avoid getting sick..

You can do this!

I am 9 days post-op and I have been eating grits and eggs and mashed potatoes, I was told I could eat chicken as long as I puree it.
