Hello!
I'm Bonnie and I had my RNY surgery 10/16 of this year and have lost no weight at all. I'm doing what they told me to do, but now I throw up every meal and I weigh what I did at my first weigh in. What's going on? I didn't throw up at first and I am not doing anything differently. Just seems that the first few bites won't go all the way down.

I know I'm doing something wrong. HELP! Don't regret surgery, just need a little experienced help.

Hi Bonnieblue (cute...from Gone with the Wind right?)

Since you're less than two months out I believe you might want to investigate the possibility of a stricture causing your food not to go down. There are threads here on that, so try a search or google strictures+RNY. Then see your doctor. Have you already seen the surgeon about this? If not, then you MUST go and have the problem checked out.

It sounds like your body might be in starvation mode and it's holding on to your weight. Most importantly though, if I were you I would not worry about the lack of weight loss. You should worry about your body's inability to digest your food.

You'll be able to get food down better if you don't eat the dense foods like meat first. Eat softer foods and they should go down easier. Do soft foods go down? Or are you unable to eat anything? Again, if you're not eating anything then your body WILL go into starvation mode and that's not healthy at all. Depletes a lot of stuff your body has to have and you won't succeed or be healthy if that's what's going on. You have to get it resolved ASAP. Haven't you seen the surgeon since October?

Drink a lot of water and drink protein until your doctor figures out the problem. And I'd see the surgeon on an emergency basis if it were me. This isn't healthy, as you know, and the excessive vomiting will cause potassium depletion. So I hope you're taking vitamins to combat the potassium lost from vomiting.

Good luck with resolving this and please let us know what happens with the doctor. Feel better soon okay?

Your going on two months and NO weight loss, and your throwing up?

I think its time for a phone call, like tonight!!

Ya a stricture could be the cause, but I get real worried when people ask medical advise from a forum, and even more worried when people give medical advise, this is a great place for a lot of information, but I think this one needs to handled by your surgeon...soon my dear..soon!!

The lack of loss is weird..,
