Default I'm feeling so defeated

I'm new to the forum but not new to bypass. i had mine in 2004 and have had a few nagging complications, but otherwise I'm ok, physically that is. I'm having a problem w/ health insurance. My husband's company doesn't offer spouse only coverage, and for family coverage, we loose 80% of his income, so that's out. My company doesn't offer insurance at all. So I've had the daunting task of buying it privately, only I'm getting rejected b/c of my bypass surgery. Any tips?

I'm so sorry about what you're going through. I'm also sorry that I don't have any suggestions to offer, just some sympathy. I know exactly what you're going through. I was in the same position as you not long ago and I either couldn't get coverage or was going to be charged $10,000 for the down payment, or whatever you call it, and about $300 a month just for independent insurance, because I have a pacemaker. Now I have a pacemaker AND have had the bypass so I definitely wouldn't be able to get any ind. insurance now. I also was laid off my job as of 7/25 so I'm without medical insurance again. I'm hoping and praying that I find a good job with benefits, soon and I'll also say a few prayers for you.
All I can say is that you're probably going to have to go without any insurance, pay out the ass for some insurance, or get a new job that offers it. Good luck darlin!

Im so sorry for your troubles with insurance. I don't think there are any "Tips" when it comes to insurance companies. They dictated everything in healthcare. I wish I had the magic answer for you. Just don't give up.--Lisa

I do not have any answers on the insurance issue either. You definitely came to a good place to see if anyone does have any suggestions for you.
Good luck to you and keep checking back, you might just find someone who can help. My thoughts are with you!

Perhaps contacting your state dept. of health for assistance in locating an insurance company that might help you?

Just a thought. Good luck..

Default Time limit?

See if there is any legal remedy, but I thought there was a 5 year time limit - like, after 5 years, most insurance companies would take you...

I agree, I would call the state and see if they can help you.
