Smile New to the thinner times......

Hello. I am new here, just wanted to say hi and ask maybe a question or 2? I have a trouble with my Kaiser HMO insurance? They say their is a back log of classes so I can not even begin the necessary classes until maybe 3-6 months from now? Has anyone had this happen to them? I wanted to have the Roux NY surgery? Hi Nancy!!! I have heard that about Kaiser. I also heard that you dont want to miss a single appointment. Good luck with your journey.

Hello Nicole, thank you for saying Welcome. I was hoping I did the website correct? I see you are far away from me in New Jersey. Do they have Kaiser insurance HMO there? Here in California, the HMO plan makes you attend 6 months of classes before you can begin to see a surgeon! So I am on their back logged list for 3-6 months then I may begin the classes which are free, no co-pays. But, I see you just had surgery so recently. How do you feel? May I ask are you really ok? I have been reading alot about the Roux NY stuff, and I hope I can make it thru once I get approved! If you have time, please share w/ me any extra information I may need once I begin the process? Thank you, Nancy B.

Hi Rebecca, thank you for responding. Yep, it is true you can't miss one appointment and now if you miss the first one, no matter what, you are removed from the 6 month program of classes. Ah, I was wondering, what is RTC? I did see an endocrinologist too for my diabetes and he was telling me about increasing the insulin and things to get my A1C % much lower. I run very high at 12% usually. This test FYI is to check the sugar levels for the past 3 months! Ah, and my mom was proud too of her 2 Army sons! My brother is still inlisted, he has been in for 20 years now! He is a recruiter I think level E8 I think? ok. bye bye, thank you again, NancyB.

Default here it is...

relax, take a deep breath, exhale...ok so whats a few months? Whatever it takes to get through this...its the door to a new life, tomorrow, next month, or two years from now...how long did it take for you to get into your present condition??? I know, I know, you read all this good stuff and pics...but really...if it takes two years, its worth it baby, hang tight. We love you here. Just stay connected and on the road towards your new self. Hi again, Nancy. RTC= Return To Clinic. I am a diabetic and on my first meeting with the Endocrine Doc he adjusted my insulin..and wants to see me again. That is all that it means.

How long have you been on insulin? Have you gained weight on it? I started back in Jan after 12 yrs on oral meds. I have gained 29lbs since begining the insulin. Hopefully this adjustment will stop or at least slow the weight gain. My last A1C was 7.1 in June.

Btw, I was in the Army! My son is currently in basic training.

I just had my surgery throught Kaiser in SSF. It did take a while, and when I was going through it It was a little frustrating but in hindsite, I am glad it took a the time. It gave me time to get into the mind set I needed to be in and get ready, lose weight prior to surgery. I had orientation in July of 2006 and my surgery in May 2008, I was offered a surgery date in Feb 2008 because I had lost the weight they wanted me to and completed there classes, but my job situation had changed so I had to weight. THe program was pretty comprehensive and worth the time. I paid barely anything for the surgery and the classes. So if you get in thier program, show up for your appointments, and lose the weight they want you to its all smooth and will happen. Good Luck!
