Hello,
I'm 3 months pre op for Gastric ByPass. Looking for people to compare notes, questions and concerns with. It was actually supposed to be the middle of this month, but due to the hoops that insurance makes you jump through we missed out deadline and had to postpone. The reason is I do a bit of traveling in September and October for my job and we didn't feel it would be good to be traveling so soon, until I get myself in a good eating routine and such.

So here I am, a little nervous, a little excited and would just like to hear other people feelings and concerns.

Debbie

Hi Debbie:

I'm about your age, live in Illinois (am VERY happily married, so I don't want to sound like I am hitting on you!) but just wanted to welcome you as others have too. Alas, I have been so busy with so many other things that I have been terrible about keeping in touch with TT folks, and I am overwhelmed that there are like 20 pages of new posts. I have got to get my numbers updated and get some new pixs of myself taken. (Hope that doesn't sound too egotistical.) My doctor and his staff said I am months ahead of the goal of losing 100lbs in 12 months. I have hip replacement surgery scheduled for October and my wife and I pastor a church in the sw 'burbs of Chicago (Downers Grove). I wish you all the very best! GBS is one of the very best decisions I've ever made for myself--the weight's still coming off and I've already lost over 90 lbs since mid-April of this year. (Yeah, guys tend to lose quicker than women, but hey, whatever works...) Anyhow, welcome! It's great to see someone else from IL.

It's really nice to meet you Debbie. I'll be having surgery next month. We are most likely feeling a lot of the same feelings. Lots of good, well great, people here to talk to and learn from. Good luck to you on your surgery.--Lisa

Default Thanks for the Hello

Thanks Bill for posting a hello...i didn't get many responses so I was a little disappointed. Hitting on me...that's funny...The only hitting on me i've gotten lately was my grandson trying to get my attention for orange pop. Didn't think that at all. Was delighted to hear of your success so far. My situation was that it was supposed to be this month and or course insurance companies, doctor office personel, etc just didn't get everything through like I had hoped would happend. Unfortunately I travel for my job and am required to do the shows, which the first is the 2nd week of September, so I figured if I had not had the surgery prior to the 15th of August, then I would have to wait. So needless to say we have heard nothing yet from insurance and I guess they get a full 30 days to respond...which would not be until Sept. 1 then I just have to wait until Oct when all my traveling is complete for the fall.

I was so ready, and now I have to think about it and worry about it...I shouldn't say worry...I know this is the right thing to do, I would not of worked toward it for the last year if I thought it wasn't right...Being heavy has just caused so many other things with my health that's it time to take the stand (or lay down) and have something done about it that will help me, because belive me I've tried them all.

I did check out your web site...I see your out of town this week...but don't be surprised if I show up there sometime. Again praise God for how well you've done in your journey so far, it's a fabulous thing that this procedure was out there for us that have no other alternative.

Thanks again for the note...and good luck in the future and please do stay in touch. Good luck with the hip thing.

Welcome, welcome. I am so new here myself I guess I feel kind of strange saying welcome. I have found tons of information here. Find myself coming here regularly. Making myself at home I guess. I am no help with questions people have. I haven't seen my Dr yet at the bariatric center. That is coming up in 3 weeks right after Labor day. Then I can start comparing notes.

Well Welcome to you, I was a little disappointed at first, but I've gotten a few very nice Welcomes from people that are pretty much in my boat, now just looking for those that have had the procedure and willing to share their likes and dislikes, a little guidance I would say.

But welcome and best of luck to you in your journey.

Debbie
