Hi Everyone....
Well I just went to my seminar on Monday, it was a lot of info, and a lot of stuff that i need to think about. I am 27..yes had to think about that just turned 27 July 6th....I am... guess this 440lbs.....i know WOW...WTF!!!! People say I don't look like I weight that much, I just wanted to cry when they weighed me at the seminar....everyone always says to me you have such a pretty face....well i want a pretty body too....i don't want to be fat anymore...i am ready for a change....i went to the store today, and bought fruits. and low fat stuff.....when i want to pic up the twinkies, i am going to pic the apple instead. My consultation with the doc is Aug 5th, and i want to lose weight by then, i heard the doc saying in the seminar is is more better to try to lose weight before my surgery. My sister has had the surgery, it has been a year now, and she has lost more then 100 lbs, and yes her eating habit has changed dramatically. I really want this for my self, hopefully i am qualified to get it. It is going to be hard for me to change my habits, but i must...i don't want to die like my mother did at a young age...she died from heart attack, and blood clots. Well my new internet friends, thanks for taking time to read this...if you have any comment, or things about the surgery or just anything please comment back.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!!!
You have begun the magnificent journey - not an easy one, but with commitment and following the guidelines you will enjoy the achievements, all of them, along the way.
Don't think 'DIET." This is a lifestyle change, and while you are immediately post op and for a number of months, you will not feel real hunger (at least that is true of most of us), and you will have the opportrunity to reach inside yourself and discover who you are, and what made you get to 440 lbs. It was a revelation to me on many counts. I thought I knew why, but I really didn't.
Life has changed totally for me in every way conceivable. I was obese my total life, to one degree or another. Now I know I won't get there again. I am ingrained with the steps necessary. A book that helped a lot of us - "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies." It is still a resource for me.
I embrace you, and encourage you, and hope I can help you in any way I can.

Welcome xxxxx
Hi there and welcome
Well u have crossed the FIRST hurdle , wanting to get healthy and get a good quality of life .
Your at a great age to change . loads of years left to enjoy to the MAX .
I wish u well with your Insurance outcome , hoping its positive !
Im having my g/band fitted in Sept and have already started my NEW LIFESTYLE .
When I see Junk food in the shops I look at it with discust and think : NO IM NOT BUYING U , U MADE ME LIKE THIS FAT , UNHAPPY & UNHEATHLY
I think its a great idea to change your attitude towards food & exercise before surgery .
Then It wont be such a hard battle afterwards .
Since a week past Monday I have been trying to eat healthy as poss and I been walking 10 000 steps per day and going to the gym and I have lost 9 pounds now .
Even if u try and become a bit more active, everyday move it up a notch and your body will adjust .
Its all about mental attitude and how much we really want to change our lives hun !
My goal is 2 years I will be 40 and I wana be FIT 40 !
I wish u all the best and TT is full of great info & advice for your forth coming journey .
Regards
Sas x

Welcome Aboard!
You've come to the right place. I too am new and I will be meeting with my surgeon next week to hopefully set the date for surgery. My sister also had surgery several years ago and it has changed her life. She is an inspiration (also a motivation) to be with. You go islandgirl!
