Good luck today. I hope you get some great news from Medicare! Keep an eye on that toe! Not that you need to be told that, but sure would hate to see any further complications. Again, good luck today.

Havent called any one yet
Haven't made any phone calls yet as it is still not even 8am here.
Ya the toe.........please after losing 3 toes already on my right foot. I go in with a hang nail now. I had just been feeling kinda sick, you know chills, fever ect.....I have had cellulitis in the past and was waiting to see the red flare up on my leg but I woke up the next day with a swollen red toe. Nothing else. But I got into the DR that afternoon. I am very serious about my feet. This toe issue is on my left foot so I am very off balance ect. I already am because I have no sight in my left eye and have 3 toes gone from the right foot. We just laugh about it all now. I told my husband I am going to write a book on this whole journey. The good news of this morning was my blood sugar was 96!

Ugh Ugh
ok been on the phone, called my surgeon. Whoo hoo medicare pays.........however..........once medicare kicks in I am moved from the list I am on now to the Medicare waiting list that is 3 yrs long! Screw that. I don't have 3 yrs. So I call Medicare and they give me this long list of approved Dr's......ok approved to take medicare but they are not Bariatric Dr's. I do believe I am about to scream.
So I am opting out of Medicare, going to keep my husbands insurance and stay on the 6 month list I AM ON.

Hi Sara,
I'm just beginning this journey too. I don't know if you saw this show, but there's a website about it too. You, being a diabetic, I thought this would interest you and if it's true, it's definitely great news for you.

I only wish I could talk a friend of mine into this. She's type 2 too.
Anyway, best of luck to you.

When you are on Disability you have to be on it for at least 2 yrs before you get the Medicare. AAt least that is what I had to do here in Washington State.
Also the 3 yr wait list is because with Medicare you have to have the surgery at Center of Excellence and there are only 5 Dr's in my area that preform the surgery's there. They all have a long list.

Sara, so glad you joined our family here. I think you have made a great decision to stay with your husbands insurance and not put off the proceedure, as you have already experienced weight related problems. I was similar with diabetis coming into my life, infections in my panis due to bad circulation and accelerated artheritis in my hips. You are fortunate to have your husbands insurance and the 6 monthd will go by quickly. Before you know it you'll be on your way to the healthier and better life you desire and on your way to writing a best seller too.
All the best to you Sara, from a former Oregonian now living in Italy where by the way I have had all my operations(gastric bypass, abdominoplasty and hip replacement). I am now living a new life due to have life returned to me through the gastric bypass proceedure.
