HI Everybody... IM New
I don't know if I am posting in the right area, but I am just in the process of taking all my pre ops and have had to choose a different Dr, as the one I had chosen sadly is not covered by my insurance. I was wondering if anybody has had there surgery performed by Dr Paya out of West hills CA. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Welcome to the TT forum and you are in the right place. Also try posting under the pre-op section down a little further in the list of topics. You may receive better response there. But this is a great section to let us know you are here and going through this proceedure. You can find alot of great support here and also information, as each person's experience varies a little and usually there is someone who can relate to whatever your concern, question or need is.
Personally I am outside the USA and dont know Dr.'s in the USA, as each time I started my process of getting Laproscopic Gastric Bypass I was quickly shut down by the Insurance, which I know have learned may have been a mistake, because many persue and challenge the insurances decisions and win. All the best to you in getting the Dr. lined up.

Thank you for the info. I have only started this journey about a month ago, I have completed all the pre ops, psych exam, and have the nutritional class next week. Any info on what the next step is, I would hate to be blindsided after getting this far. Any info offered would be greatly appreciated.
I am so looking forward to this. At times it doesnt seem real, and fear sets in a bit, but i know that I am headed in the right direction, and I am going to enjoy the ride !!!

Thats right Borntrendy, dont give into the fear and negative thinking. You are on the right track and your heart and soul knows it. As the heart and soul live the life with you as the heavy person.
I would say stay ontop of your physician and ask ask ask many questions and get answers you can comprehend. There should be a clear path for you layed out. Also remember posting under the sections here will bring guidance and advice.

Everyone's experience is different, some people have to do a 6 month supervised diet, some have to do a 2 week liquid diet, and some like me didn't have to do any of that. I would check with your doctor's office to see what their usual procedure is.
Some things you can start to do:
Someone had posted on here how to get free protien samples. Maybe start trying different protien suppliments to see which one you think you might like. Although, your tastes will change. Start drinking the recommended amount of water every day, start to cut back on caffiene. Some doctors want you off caffiene. If you drink a lot of pop, start replacing it with water, decaf teas, crystal lights, propel and the like. Take a look at your cupboards, start buying less of the "junk" and more healty food choices. One of the things that's very hard for me is the no drinking for 1 hour before and 1 hour after a meal. Maybe start practicing. Just a few thoughts. Wishing you the best of luck on this journey.

I agree with Sharon completely - to be totally successful with this journey (and it's an ongoing journey, not a destination), it is important to get into the frame of mind, as best you can, for the change you will be experiencing on so many levels.
Get and read "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" - a wonderful resource that is still helpful to me.
This is an emotional journey, not just a physical one. It is complex. Be ready to embrace the changes you experience. You will, if you look carefully, find the AUTHENTIC YOU. It's a revelation!
Best of luck!
