Wink Aloha from Nor Cal!

I too haven't had my lap RNY yet, but this morning was my long appointment with the nutritionist and she talked about many of the things you are describing with food. She indicated that sometimes after bypass surgery even taste buds change and you won't even like the taste of things that you loved before. Her other main point to me is that the chewing at least twenty times with every bite is huge. I am like a vacuum cleaner, swallow things almost whole while I'm talking! The other's who have answered your post are right - maybe you need to be on an anti-depressant for a little while until your body stabilizes. The nutritionist assured me that within a year I could probably eat a little bit of everything that I love - just in much smaller portions. Right now I have to give up my triple venti non-fat honey lattes until six months post op. The caffeine takes too much of the hydration that people with bypasses struggle with. Are you getting your 64 oz of fluid down everyday? I guess that is very important in feeling good too, along with the B vitamin supplements. I hope you and your partner feel better soon and please be very persistent with the surgeon about your leg pain. Aloha

Thank you all for your comments and advice. I'm feeling better already. Danita put her foot down and changed my 6-week appt. with the surgeon from next Friday to Tuesday. She's sick of seeing me in all this pain from my left side. So....I'll let you all know how that visit goes. Our surgeon just seems so nonchalant about everything we try to talk to him about. I don't feel like getting the royal brush-off this time. I'm going to make him understand how much pain Im in. I'm just so sick to my stomach about what has happened to my leg, I just don't know what to do about it.

Anyway, thanks again.

Hey FISHER1000,
Danita reads everything right along with me and most of the stuff I post is for her too...so she's here with us in spirit! lol
I was in tears reading about your journey because it looked as if you had things so easy. You felt so good about your decision and it just seemed like you were having such a good time. You were losing a serious amout of weight right away AND you could see it! Throwing clothes out and all kinds of stuff. I don't see a BIT of difference in my appearance and my clothes are still tight. I'm so miserable and uncomfortable that I can't even imagine feeling the way you did. I hope this changes soon. Maybe when I start seeing a difference in my body, things will feel better to me.

Thanks,
Hawaiian
