Red face Introduction

Hi everyone. I am going to see my primary care doctor in the morning to begin discussion of having the WLS. At this point I am not sure which type is best for me, and that's one of the reasons I am joining this group. I want lots of information, and this looks like a great source. Thanks for being here.

Thumbs up Welcome from Sacramento!

Hi! I had my PCP appointment two and a half weeks ago and I go for the 3 hours consult/seminar with Dr. Waldrep tomorrow morning. I have Healthnet HMO through Sutter Independent Physicians so I had a choice of seeing Waldrep or Patching (who is downtown). Dr. Machado does not take Healthnet HMO patients anymore. Let me know if I can help you in anyway! I'm very excited at becoming "healthy" again - April in Sacramento

Hi, thanks for responding. I am a Pacificare insured, and I have no idea how many hoops I have to jump through or what doctors perform the surgery. I am ready to jump through quite a few hoops, because I want so bad to be healthy. I can hardly wait to get started. Let me know how your consultation goes - what do they do to you that takes three hours?

Cool Seminar Appointment

I think the three hour long appointment is a "small group" thing. Lots of information about the different procedures and what is required before and after. I don't think you even get to talk to the surgeon at this first consult. Like I said before, I had to have my PCP write a letter to Healthnet requesting approval for the consult. Lots of stuff to do and I'm impatient! I'll let you know how it went by posting tomorrow night. April

I got a referral today but I don't know which doctor it's for, as they are supposed to call me. My primary care doc said that she really prefers lap band technique. I hope your seminar went well.
