Thanks, I have already had a Sacramentan respond to my first post, so it looks like I'm not going to feel isolated on this journey at all! Thanks.

Thumbs up Seminar Appointment

Just got back from the seminar appointment. There were five other patients there too. We were all taken back and weighed on a fancy scale that printed out our bmi, body fat, lean body mass and water content. Very interesting. After that we went to a conference room and Mike (Dr. Waldrep's PA) did a two hour power point presentation on the two surgeries and answered loads and loads of questions with very good humor. When Mike's presentation was concluded, the office manager came in and went over all of the paperwork and gave us our referrals for psych, dietician, bloodwork and chest xray. I didn't have to go back to my primary physician for any of the referrals, they take care of it all. Their obvious knowledge and expertise made me feel very at ease. You don't have to choose which surgery right away if you don't want to. After all of your paperwork is in from the various consults, they will schedule you for your office visit with Dr. Waldrep. I am leaning towards the lap rny because it also cuts the hunger hormone and doesn't allow you to eat high sugar and carb foods, but I am holding off on a final decision until I talk to Dr. Waldrep. The team at SALSA have done 1800 laproscopic bariatric procedures. I hope this helps you a little! Let me know what's happening with your referral!
