Default Im so scared

Sorry I am new to all this. I am due to have a bypass operation at St Georges Hospital in London next week. I am really worried about the whole thing. I dont know anyone that has had the surgery, and all I hear is horror stories. I would love to hear from some people that can assure me that I will survive the operation and will be okay afterwards.

Thanks

Welcome Jannie,
Everything in life has risks and consequences. WLS is no different. We always hear the WLS stories that have a negative out come first, however those sides of the coin are important also. The good & Unfortunate must go hand and hand.

Welcome to this Forum, read & research and you will find both sides here.

Keep questions coming and use the Search feature to help you navigate the forum.

Best wishes and welcome to the Forum~

Best of luck to you. You'll be fine. I haven't heard of anyone "expiring" during the surgery. We all go through the stress of getting ready and the waiting to get it over with. Just concentrate on the new journey you are about to start. It's amazing! Just think in less than a year from now people that you haven't seen since surgery won't even recognize you! That's a neat experience. There will be a lot of changes and challenges but there are a lot of good people here that are more than willing to help in any way they can. So please come back and feel free to ask away!

Sharon

The last thing I want to do is be a wet blanket here ...

But if you're so worried about having this surgery, maybe you aren't ready yet? Maybe you don't have enough facts, or aren't comfortable with your surgeon yet?
I had the good fortune to have a best friend go through the surgery 7 years ago, and have watched her throughout her journey. Maybe if you went to some support group meetings, that would help and calm your fears. I know it helps to prepare you for what's ahead.

Just a thought ...
