Default I am a newbie

I am from Montebello,Ca. and now in Downey.I raise my nephew and take care of my parents, who are part time workers and retired.I am on (soon) SSI,medicare,medi-cal ,it is on its way.Been disabled with diabetes 2,congestive heart failure, sleep apnea, hypertention, asthma and more.I am trying to get back in the swing of things after pneumonia and left ventrical dysfunction in '06.I feel stronger,i can breathe better and would like to hear about the lap band. Can anyone explain, what are the 1st things a person should do(sequence of events)in order to get a doctor or hospital that will do the procedure. Thanks reply here or email wilbzbooboo@gmail.com

Welcome to the TT family. You can definately find some good information by reading through the posts under the various catergories here and hopefully one of the members who have had the lap banding proceedure will see your Thread, try posting another thread if you dont hear something soon with the Title: "Lap Banding Questions" or something of this nature. Sorry I dont know much about it, I had Gastric Bypass and think it was a miracle in my life.

All the best to you on your journey ahead.

wow you do have a few co morbidities. I personally would seriously consider the bypass due to your diabetes (just my opionion) my sis in law has med-i cal and they do cover the surgery so your in luck there. You start with your primary care doctor, let him know your very interested and serious about surgery. Then talk with the referral coordinator there as to what the specifics of your insurance requirements. Then begin with the requirements (usually a 6 month physician supervised diet) that way you'll be ahead of the requirements when you see a surgeon
