Bloated belly is so normal! I thought they impregnated me... I didn't have the gas pains, but alot of people mention using the Gas-X strips that dissolve. But walking around will help get the gas moving too.

Regarding the vitamins...I used Flintstone chewables for the first 1-2 months post-op...after that I could swallow pills so switched to the GNC Women's Ultra's. The chewable Flintstones actually stained my teeth....but the dentist was able to take care of the issue for me.

Just remember that first week can be so hard mentally on post-opers...so make sure you come here if you need help, advice, or just a shoulder to cry on! And R-E-L-A-X...what you're experiencing is NORMAL!

Yep to what Cathy said although Gas-X didn't help me much - I relied upon lots of peppermint tea and regular little walks.

I used centrum chewables early out.

Girl not much helped me with the gas other than just letting it fly. Hope you get to feeling better.

tHANKS EVERYONE FOR THE RESPONSES! I would let it fly if I could. I was in so much pain last night! It was terrible! If it doesnt clear up today I am going to call the docs office.
But I do have another question- Did anyone actually gain weight the first week? I had the surgery Friday, april 18 and weighed myself last night when I got home from the hospital and was actually up 6 lbs!!!! Thats a bit discouraging!

It's not uncommon to initially gain weight, due to all the fluids you receive at the hospital for surgery. And it WILL go away and you WILL continue to lose weight. Give it time and believe in this surgery...it works!

I agree with everything stated. The gas can be very distracting and the more ytou try, the more it won't move. I used GasX and it did give some relief. I also use chewable flintstones. Just waiting until they are gone to move to the big boy ones!

Welcome back Caran and gas seems to be part of the experience. I put up with it, but that was not the best choice, check out what others have done and also ask you Dr., especially if it persists and makes you feel unpleasant or is painful for extended time.

Good luck in these first weeks of your new life.

THROW OUT THE SCALE! The fluids your retaining is normal and you'll have lost quite a bit of weight in the first 2 weeks. But i know from experience that the scale is really the devil! Its discouraging when you dont see those magical "numbers" so do yourself a favor now and just ignore the scale. When you see the surgeon let them do the weighing
