Welcome Grandmaday,
Congratulations on making a wonderful decision for to give yourself a new and wonderful re-start to life.
I know that when I started really thinking about the surgery I had my fears too. Perhaps it is better to trust in your decision and Dr/Surgeon and try and not to think too much. Fear really can be a destructive eliment and at this time there is much to be happy about, as you are approaching the new life you are wanting for yourself and family.
I send you many positive thoughts full of good energy. All the best to you Grandmaday on your journey ahead.

Welcome! I'm pretty new here too. I just had my surgery on the 10th. Everyone here seems so nice and their stories inspire me. I was nervous pre-surgery too, that's to be expected. But follow your doc's rules to a tee, listen to your body, and you'll be fine!

I got out of the hospital yesterday and I am getting along pretty well but right now i can see why they want you to pace yourself as I am really tired right now, but I am so very glad to have made the choice for laparoscopic bypass. Did you see the 60 Minutes show last night?

I had Van Wagner as my doctor. You are in good hands. He made me feel comfortable and his staff is great.

I guess I should post my age to the left... I'm also 49 and my surgery is the day after yours (tomorrow).

As I type right now, you're still asleep, or perhaps, trying to sleep, as your nerves work on whether you made the right decision or not. I haven't read many other threads, so I'll just give you what I'm thinking.

It's life changing, scared or nervousness is completely normal. I should be asleep right now. I managed 2 hours, but sleep isn't easy. All sorts of emotions are going through my head, mostly, will I be able to do it?

I accept that thousands of others HAVE been able to, so what's wrong with me? I'm at 345. I NEED a life change. If it's been done by others, so can I -- so can you!

All the best!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!
