I had my gall bladder removed 4 years ago (Nothing to do with Gastric Bypass) They told me it would be three very small cuts and the surgery would be at the most two hours. When I got on the table and they stuck the tube in my, my gal bladder exploded. They had to open my wide. I now have a 6 inch scar across my side. The surgery ended up being 6.5 hours long and they almost lost me because I lost so much blood. They were not prepared for that to happen.

Don't mean to frighten you. I was lucky enough to be one of the very few who this has happened to.

Take Care.

Thanks for responding. Have you had any negative side effects since your gall bladder was removed?

I had my gall bladder removed back in 1981 long before they did them laproscopically, and have a scar that runs from between my breasts to my belly button.

Once I healed from the surgery there did not seem to be any after affects other than loose bowels, which I had up until 11 weeks ago when I had my RNY.. now I have the opposite problem, unfortunately.

Hello again,

No. I did not even know there was a problem with my gal bladder. They just said it was a big lump of hard rocks and were surprised I hadn't felt anything yet. So, they removed it to be safe. Other than the scar, I don't feel anything as far as the gal-bladder being removed. Post Surgery was such a pain to go through though. Wasn't expecting such a long recovery. (8 Weeks) because it was such a tramatic thing to my body.

You will be fine though, don't worry. It is such an easy proceedure (When done correctly) LOL
