Default Hey..It's me, I'm new 4/18/08

Just got back from my Neurosurgeon's who approved me for Lap Band on 5/21! Yeehaw! I had a neck fusion 4 weeks ago so thought he might not let me go through with my prescheduled Lap band surgery.

I'm so ready for this surgery. I'm a Yo-yo dieter. My lowest was 14 years ago at 135, I'm now a 100 lbs plus and feel like I'm trapped inside my body.

I've tried everything to motivate myself but can't do it anymore so I'm very hopeful to get back on track with my newest friend, lap band. After having the surgery and losing 50 lbs I hope to get back to walking 5 miles a day. I use to love it, more like a drug, I had to hit the streets with my tennies to feel good.

I'm very happy to have found this group.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have for my pre surgery weight loss. Which protein drinks taster the best?

Hey Kimmie Joe,
Our stats look amazingly similar. I thought about the lap band but decided on GOP because I have real bad GERD, and the surgeon said the lap bad would make that worse.
When is your surgery scheduled?

WELCOME TO TT! I am a newbie here as well. I think that there is a board that talks about the protein shakes? :O)

I have not gotten the approval yet but have done everything and just waiting for the insurance to go through. I opted for the gastric bypass. I hope everything goes well for you and wish you luck!

Thanks for the responses! How invigorating to hear that others actually care?

For those of you that have had banding how much weight did you lose in the first three month?

I was also going for the lapband and then after I attended the seminar, I decided on RNY. The RNY is a better choice for me. I need to know that there are actions/reactions in what I eat....in other words, I need my body to discipline me for my food choices. That will be the only way I will loose the weight that I want to.

Smile Welcome again

I thought I would answer your question on how much in the first 3 months.

I went from 18st to 14st 5lbs so nearly 4 stone but it has since slowed down as it will I am told.

I have found that it is the walking for me that helps me loose the weight faster and I havent been doing as much so it is harder at the moment.

Take care Dianne
