Wink Getting prepared to be one of the first patients to have a stomafyx in Denver CO

My name is Heather. I had gastric bypass 5 years ago. Everything went well and I went from 289 down to 143. Now I have slowly crept back up to 210. Not knowing what to do I contacted Dr. Browns office for their help, All is history and I will be one of the first patients to have this procedure. I am excited to have that full feeling again, yet so nervous on what to expect from the whole thing. When I had my first surgery I knew noone who had gastric bypass, now it seems that everyone is having it done. I want to know if anyone has already had this procedure? How do you feel? What to expect? I have never had any regrets for have had the gastric bypass, who knows what I would weigh now if I didnt. I sure am glad I found this site. It is wonderful to be able to talk to people that know how you feel. Have a Great Day

Default Hello

Welcome Heather. I can tell you to the best of my knowledge, no one has had that kind of procedure here. This is a friendly group of questions who arent afraid of asking questions or answering them.

What I want to know from you (since youre the first to do this procedure) why do you feel doing it again, you will be able to keep the weight off this time? What were your barriers? Do you have a different plan this time? Is insurance going to pay for it, or do you have to come out of pocket? Im not trying to attack you, Im just trying to understand.

thank you and welcome again!

Default Interesting

Welcome Heather and you story is interesting for me, I am about 11 months after the gastric bypass and have often wondered what options there are for a person who puts weight back on.
I am interested to know what your experience has been and what your thoughts are about why you gained weight after the first time, sounds that perhaps there may have been a lack of support that you were aware of.
Only curious to know and learn from your experience too.
Welcome again.

Wink

When I had my surgery there were not all the groups or anyone to help with the process. My doctor was over 3 hours away so I couldn't just run down there, So after my first 3 years out I quit going to my yearly appointments. In the mean time I had been switching anxiety meds with my primary doc and that isnt good for someone triing to keep weight off. I am triing this procedure because it will give me the control to stop eating. I have also learned that the protein is going to be my #1 concern along with taking all the vitamins daily. I will certainly keep everyone posted.
