Can you go back and try the 5 day pouch test? Is there testing that can be done to see how much your pouch has stretched or is there a internal health issuethat you do not know about? Have you seen your Dr/
Thanks for posting, I really would like to see how you do. There is another thread in here for folks that have been yrs out since thier surgeries. I have questions did you start eating the wrong foods or change the qualties of eating. I am new in here and I can't help but fear that I will gain weight back in future as I eat different foods and fear stretching the pouch. I'm so sorry you are going thru this and hope others in here can give you so really good advise. Just try and not lose your faith and give up on yourself. So many questions and I do not want you to think I'm rude. God bless and give you strenght thru this bad time.

I did not start eating different foods. I reallt dont eat that much. I have days when I can eat every two hours and some days I may not get hungry at all and have to force myself to eat. I drink one diet soda a day if that. I cant tolerate sweet foods (I still suffer with dumping). I am so depressed that I literraly cry every day. I was 518 and I am slowly creeping back t 300 pounds.

You're doing the right thing now, by posting here and getting support for a renewed effort on losing the weight you've regained.
I didn't notice you mention it, but have you gone back to your doctor & nutritionist to see what the reason might be for the gain?
Also, what kind of physical activity are you engaged in? I am eight weeks post op, on a 'six week stall' having lost nearly nothing in the last six weeks, but much of that is due to a separate problem of severe dizziness due to a chronic vertigo problem (or I think this is why I'm not losing anything..I'm certainly not over doing food or fluids!)..
From so many others that post here losing large numbers, I'm gathering they are far more active than I am able to be.. could this be an issue for you as well?
I think it would be best for you to seek out your professionals, maybe become more active and be proud that you're now taking the positive steps in reaching out.
Good luck and have faith in yourself that you CAN do this.

Hi Cat,
I'm so new I don't have any experience with what you are experiencing but,
have you contacted your doctors and told them what's going on? If you've moved, try to find another Bariatric Center, I bet they would be glad to assist you.
In the meantime, yesterday in response to someone else I found Kate Baily's Blog "Living After Weightloss Surgery" and she also has a website by the same name...I thought it was an excellent website and blog. She has the 5 day pouch diet. Basically, she talks about getting back to basics...
Also, I'm not trying to be mean and please don't get upset, but, you're doing something to gain the weight. I remember I used to tell myself that very same thing..."I'm not eating that much how come I can't lose weight"...just a thought....
Here are the links and Good Luck...

There is a reason
Cat,
You have come so far and owe it to yourself to get to the bottom of this weight gaining creeping back into your life. I think it is our responsibility to insist that our Drs. and surgeons work with out and resolve these issues. If you are not eating in old ways and you are maintaining the lifestyle you learned to get the weight off then there is something else that could be happening and after 7 years it is another gift to give your self to get out of your depression and get the answers you need.
Please do check the sites and posts that the others have metioned here too, as this can be helpful and prepare you with questions to go forward with when you see your Dr/Surgeon.
I wish you all the best Cat and let us know what is happening.

Cat, you have gotten some excellent advise. Going back to a nutritionist and your surgeon, if possible is one of the best places to start. You need to ask for help. Don't be ashamed of any weight gain you have had. Believe me they would rather have you come back now than later and find yourself back up to the 500 pound range.
In the meantime sit down and be totally honest with yourself. Start writing down what you are eating. That will help a nutrionist to determine what is the best step for you. Make sure you write down everything that goes into your mouth. You will only be hurting yourself if you aren't honest.
If you eat very little are you eating enough? When you journal try to figure out your calories and your protein intake. Are you following your doctor's plan? For me my surgeon suggests 1000-1200 calories a day, less than 30 grams of fat and 70-90 grams of protein. Like others suggested, are you exercising at all? If not start moving. Get a pedometer and start with trying to add steps into your day. Don't make the goal unrealistic. If you are taking 1000 steps a day give yourself a goal of 1500. Once you make that goal challenge yourself to do more.
Something else that could be going on is that you may have stretched your pouch and/or anastamosis (the connection between your pouch and intestines). With your surgery being more than 5 years ago the RNY was done slightly different so that it is possible to stretch your pouch more than it is for those of us who have had surgery more recently. If that is the case it is harder to lose the weight and often people see a weight gain. When you do eat do you feel full? Again, you need to get yourself back to a bariatric surgeon who could scope you and see if there is some reason you are putting the weight back on.
You owe it to yourself to get help. You've done so well and it is possible to get the weight off that you have put on. You are worth it. Don't let the weight gain paralyze you into not doing anything. Use it as a motivator.
Please keep posting. You need people who are going to keep you accountable and there are many here that are willing to help.
