Hi sam and welcome
Im also new and ive been down the same path as you.
The way i look at it is life life as it is.
Upto now ive been stuck inside my house , not socialble grumpy and most of all stress and depressed. the list could go on.
Yes i could continue with diets etc and battling day in day out. wieght yoyoing up and down. but what good does that do for me.
Then i think what would my life be after the bypass.
Losing wieght, regaining my socal life , going to the park with my children, having fun, feeling free and happy. plus much much more
It may not be easy getting to where i want to be , but god its going to be worth it.
When the time gets closer to the point of the operation if your like me you will start to feel a glow inside, This is why im here i feel like i want to reach out again. its been a long time since i felt like this.
If i can answer anything for you or anyone i will be more then glad to.
Best wishes
Mark

Warm and Welcoming
Nice sentiments shared with you by Mark and welcome also to him. This process is a big decision and one that will definitely change your life for the better. It wont happen over night, however it seems at times that things do move along very quickly.
These proceedures give us all a little something different, however in the majority it is way better than we could have possibly imaganined.
All the best for your future decisions.

Hi Sam, welcome to the forum. The best advice that I can give you is to research, research, research! The more you know about what to expect after wls the better it will go for you. Please feel free to ask any questions. Like I said the more you know the better.

Hi Sam!
My husband was very much against any WLS in the beginning but he came with me to see the surgeon and joined in a few classes.
The more he learnt the more he understood that at 52, I really didn't have much of an option. Years of yoyo dieting had left me heavier than at any time and my quality of life was at an all time low.
Would I do it again knowing what I now know? You bet I would - my only regret is not doing it sooner.
No one can make the decision for you sweetheart but as Beth suggests, research as much as you can. Only then will you be able to feel comfortable with your decision one way or the other.

Thanks
Thanks for the welcome, and the advise.
I feel loads better now, Ive been looking up as much as possible, and I know I will reap the benefits from having the bypass as I have diabettes and high blood pressure.
Thanks again to all of you who've welcomed me I dont feel as alone!

Hi Sam... welcome to TT! Beth is right... research as much as you can and listen to your surgeon's advise... attend some of his support group meetings if possible to see and hear from some of his other patients... You cannot have "too much" information when it comes to this decision...
My DH was not too convinced either - but now that it's over and done with - and I'm doing so well, he's happy for me!
HUGS and again - WELCOME

Welcome to Sam and Mark!
Only you can decide if this is the right way to go...I for one KNEW that this was the only way I could lose weight...but remember it's a tool...not THE answer to a happy life! If you have other issues they will still be there once the weight is gone, unless you work on those areas. Not sure if it makes sense to pre-opers...but us post-opers really understand that statement!
Good luck to you both...and learn all the positive outcomes and negative outcomes too...knowledge is POWER!! Empower yourself!
Cathy
