Smile Hey! New to the site...

Hey Everyone! I'm new to the site and wanted to say THANKS for all the info. I've been reading off and on for several months. My ins. denied me twice but finally got approved. Yea! My lab-band date is Mar.12th. I'm excited but also a little anxious. You have all answered a lot of my questions but I'm sure I'll have a lot more. Please keep me in your prayers as I am just starting my journey. Thanks! Karen

Welcome, Karen! And congrats on approval for your life-changing March 12th date!
Lots to learn from here...I trust you've checked out Gwen's post for us "newbies" with an accessible list of great resources? If not, I'd commend it to you.

Next Wednesday, I go to my surgeon's office meet with him, the nutritionist, and the physical therapist/trainer whom I have been seeing monthly for the last six months. This will be the 6th of 6 mandated visits by my insurance company, which is BCBS of Pennsylvania, (even though I live in Illinois...long story.) Anyway, I was sorry to read you were denied twice for your lap band and I guess one of my biggest fears now is denial by the insurance folks, as I hope for laparoscopic GB in April. Who's your insurance company if I may be so bold to ask?

Anyway, great to meet you and I wish you all the best.
BillH

Default Thanks for the welcome..

Thanks for the welcome! I'll look for my name on the March list. It still seems kind of surreal!

Bill, Best of luck w/ins. I also have BC/BS. I live in Alabama but ins. is BC/BS Anthem of Colorado. Hope you get approved quickly but don't give up if you don't. My case was sent to appeals then denied and sent to New Hampshire for their "second level appeals" and denied. Then after the first of the year my Dr.'s office resent everything and within a couple of weeks I was approved. Who knows why but I'm grateful it was finally approved.

I have looked at some of the newbie info. I'm starting to read everybodies suggestions for the protein drinks and shakes. Don't really want to buy up a bunch b/c I'm picky about the taste. Sorry this is so long but you can tell I'm excited ! Thanks again! Karen
