Red face I'm new here and my Revision Op is this Sunday

Hi all,
I am new to this forum. My op is this Sunday 3 February. I go in on Friday for the pre-op, etc.
I live in Israel. I'm 5 ft tall and weigh 101k now - after almost 2 weeks on the LP diet. I've lost weight - 2K (even though I cheated).
I have had SRVG, VBG, and a POVH. I suffer severe GERD and travelled the country for consults. All the fat-docs agreed on what needs to be done. But then realize they didn't feel competent to "fix" me. So I continued my search.
I am also on OH (obesityhelp) and a forum in Hebrew.
I am well aware that revision ops are much more risks of complication - but so is my life right now.
I don't have a laptop so I won't have computer access until I come home from the hospital.
Looking forward to meeting people.
Mikimi

Mikimi, I'm not a doctor, but from what I've researched I think RNY may be a good option. I'm totally with you about GERD - it's terrible (I have GERD plus a quite big hiatal hernia). I haven't discussed VGB specifically with my doctor, but he told me that surgeries like gastric banding weren't for me because of the hernia and GERD, which could actually get worse. Instead, he told me that RNY should help me with GERD - from what I've read the stomach acid is mainly produced in the lower part of the stomach, and this is being completely separated from your esophagus, so I have pretty high hopes to have this problem solved.

I hope that everything goes well and you'll get rid of the nasty GERD and hernia!

Default Welcome!

Sorry to hear you have had so much trouble, but I'm glad you've finally found a surgeon who will help you. Umm, I think I know what VBG is, it's still relatively new here, but what is SRVG and POVH? Anyhow, keep us posted, and good luck!

CeeCee, POVH is post operative ventral hernia and SRVG is Silastic Ring Vertical Gastroplasty - I guess it must be something similar to VBG-Mason.

Updated: here is an explanation what's VBG + SRVG:
