Smile 5 month post op:

Hi everyone I am 5 months post op and have lost approximently 64 pounds. I seem to be losing 10 pounds a month. Just wanted to know if I'm on track......
I workout 5 times a week and walk 5 to 7 miles a day and weight train 2 times a week.. Now that the weather is bad here in colorado I have not been doing so great on the working out part... I need to get back in gear... I am getting about 64 grams of protein in a day and approximently 400 to 500 calories a day.. I try to watch everything I put in my mouth.. I hoped too be thinner by now am I asking for too much ... Please let me know .. Thanks Sandra in Colorado

Hi Sandra!

First, welcome to the TT forum!!! So glad to have you here!

Second, there are a lot of variables, and you haven't indicated your pre-op or highest weight, and your height. Those facts are a big determining factor (people with more weight to lose shed pounds quicker.

I was pretty consistent, after the first couple of months - 10 to 12 lbs a month - until about a month ago when things slowed down, which makes sense since I am nearing the end of the weight loss part of my journey.

What concerns me is that you may not be eating enough - 400 to 500 calories don't seem like enough to me, but that's just my own reaction and may not be accurate. Also, and this is an absolute truth, muscle weighs heavier than fat, so your wonderful excercising has caused you to build muscle (which is so important in burning calories), and is a balancing act with the excess weight you are shedding.

Best regards!

Claire gave losts of good advice! Your weight loss sounds perfect! You might want to up your calories and protien though, especially if you are still exercising as much as you stated in the post. You don't want to burn yourself out bu doing too much too quickly. I think most everybody tends to slow down just a bit during the winter months. Some days I can barely get myself to leave the house. LOL And we don't even have real snow yet!

hi sandra, I am from Pueblo, and you seem to be losing really well. I too had surgery with DR Chae. I think all your exercise is great and probably gaining lots of muscle, although your calories seems low. Maybe your body is just in the state of mind its being starved, and if you up your calories just a bit, you will start shedding more. But your success is amazing. Keep up the great work!!!! Good Luck!!!
