Default Lap band Surgery. Panama

I am going to go to Panama to have my Lap Band surgery done. I am traveling from Atlanta and have got an all inclusive Package from a company in Panama which includes the surgery at a John Hopkins affiliate hospital.

Has anyone traveled abroad before for this surgery? This particular surgery procedure is not listed on there site, but I inquired anyway and got an immediate response with a confirmed room in the Hospital for early January 2008. No waiting time at all.

Better still the price including the vacation and airfares was 40% cheaper than here at home.

So far the service has been great immediate response to all inquires in English.

Oh! I almost forgot the site name. www.nipandtuckpanama.com

Anybody wanting further information on this should send an inquiry email regarding Lap band Surgery because it is not listed on there site.

Shania, I'm concerned on several levels.

First, the fact that your surgery is not listed on the surgeon's website is an indication of a lack of experience with it - he doesnt' do it enough to put it on the site.

Second, lap band requires monthly port adjustments - how will that be done?

Please don't take t his as criticism, it isn't. I am concerned for your well-being because the two things that are the most important in weight loss surgery are the surgeon's experience, and the patient's ability to follow-up and have the surgeon's staff available in the event of post-op issues (and there are many, big and small).

Having said this, I wish you the very best of luck in this life-changing decision-making process.
