Hi, and welcome to the TT forum.
You have taken a good step, and are obviously realistic enough to realize that this is not only an emotional decision - it must be based on a combination of facts. The facts are available through seminars given by bariatric surgeons, who can clearly explain the process. They offer seminars (we call them informational meetings here), and they answer a lot of questions.
You might want to google Bariatric surgeons Tennessee, or weight loss surgery Tennessee, and that might help you to get to surgeons in your area.
The very best of luck to you!!
