Hello All!
its Crazy How Ive Been Reading Posts On This Thing For About 4 Months Now, And Haven't Registered. Well, I Am 4 Days Post-op And I Guess You Can Say, Now I Need Advice. I Guess Im Going Through An Average Amount Of Pain Which Lortab Is Taking Care Of, But I Try To Space Out My Doses Over An 8 Hour Period, So I Guess Im Okay On That. My Question To All Out There, Is What Other Supplements This Early Out Can I Take? Right Now, Im Taking Flinstones Chewables Complete Two Times A Day, And Thats It! I Know That Kelly Wants The Pee To Be Light In Color, But I Feel Like Im Drinking As Much As I Can And I Cant Seem To Get It Light Again, Like How It Was At The Hospital. Well, So Far Those Are My Two Probs. Along With Gas Pain, Which I Just Forgot About. Sometimes Gas-x Works But Only For A Short Period Of Time. Another Questions Is: Are There Any Protien Supplements That Are Under The "clear Liquids" Group? I Hate Feeling Weak. Thanks For All Who Respond. This Is Technically My First Post And I See How Tight Knit This Community Is. Im Glad Its Here. Thanks Everyone.

Hi there!
Ok, Lets see... I take 2 flintstones, 2 B-12 dissolveable tabs(GNC), 3 chewable OSCAL (calcium carbonate) and my Dr prescribed Pepcid x2 The B12 is suppose to help out a little with energy at least so I heard and since I have been taking 2 I am a lot less tired. The Oscal is calcium since we really aren't eating "normal" it's good to have to keep your body healthy. I started taking it all the day I came home from the hospital and have been fine with them all. I didn't have any issues with gas pain so I can't give you much there except don't try to hold it in. My question to you would be why are you on clear liquids? I did liquids the first two weeks but not clear. Are you sure you aren't mistaken and it's just liquids? If it's liquids my Dr recommends ProComplex you can find it at GNC it's the most balanced with three types of protein. As far as if it is clear liquids there is a clear protein drink called ISOPURE I think that's it I can double check that too.. they sell it at GNC. They will know I am sure. You can get the B12 in dissolveable tabs that go under your tongue at GNC and I found the Oscal in any pharmacy section around the calcium. Later on I was told about a month out it's good to take Biotin it's a B vitamin that's suppose to be good for maintaining healthy hair and nails. You said your tired... are you getting your protein requirements in? That will make you really tired if you don't as well as you just had major surgery! Try to remember that and rest as much as you can! I was still sneaking naps in ok well I still sneak naps in while the kids are napping LOL... If I am tired I try to rest and relax. You don't want to over do it at all so take it easy! Don't forget to be up and walking around at least every 3 hours it will really help with pain because the more you move and twist the sooner your muscles will get used to the movement again. It's truely the worst part or was for me at least. If you are mistaken and it's just liquids, you can have tomato soup, chicken and beef broth, I didn't like either so I took chicken noodle soup and drained out the broth and drank that. Yogurt with no sugar added Dannon Lite and fit is good the Vanilla. Skim milk, popsicles Sugar free and I found Edy's sugar free fruit popsicles they are real fruit those are good! Yoplait has some sugar free yogurt smoothies that are good too. You can have Crystal light and anything sugar free. My husband found Special K came out with some protein drink mixes you add to your water! They are like 5g of protein each. Oh and you can have sugar free pudding and jello. I am trying to remember what else LOL I lived off of the chicken noodle soup broth and yogurt pretty much the first two weeks and the protein shake. LOL I will be 4 weeks post op on Tuesday.
Hope this all helps you out!
Melody

Hi there!
your advice is so helpfull to me... My surgery scheduled oct. 23 and I will try what you sugest. So helplfull... what about the gas... does anyone have sugestions that? I get alot of gas now and I'm pre-op... I'm scared what will happen after... It can't get possibly worse, can it? I thought I'd have to get b-12 shots every 2 weeks like some have mentioned.. In your case (melody) the tablets work good?
thanks again.

Hey Janine,
Yes, they were actually recommended by the Nurse and the lady at GNC said the ones that dissolve under your tongue absorb alot better than the pills. Not too sure about the shots they are probably better but I have been doing good. I go Monday for my 4 week check up so I will see how that goes. I am not sure how often they check your blood work at all but I feel fine. I have been eating fine as well so it probably helps out a lot. You will have to let me know how everything goes when your able to get online! If you need anything just let me know. My email is sweetpea72602@aol.com. I am always around. I also have MSN and Yahoo IM as well. I am glad that all helps you out. The gas you have now might just be from foods you eat now. You could be slightly lactose intollerant if you eat alot of dairy or drink milk you can get a lot of gas. I was thinking you had already had surgery that's why I was asking if you were sure about the clear liquids. LOL... I was like ummm I don't think you will get much on clear liquids LOL... If you were talking about the day before surgery it pretty much sucks. LOL Well, if you need anything just yell!

thank you so much for all that good info. i was actually supposed to be on just clear liquids the first three days after disharge: anything you can pretty much see thru. So i did beef broth, sf jello, of course water, and thats pretty much it. yesterday i tried isopure and its pretty good. I am now able to do the protien drinks, cream soups, vegetable juices, stuff like that. so i bought v8, propel, isopure, and cream of mushroom and chicken. im trying to walk every two hours, but sometimes i find myself on my butt in front of the couch most of the day. i just feel to icky to do anything. im gonna try the b12 from gnc. i believe that should help. thanks so much for everything. i would like to post my stats.. but i dont know how you guys get it like that on the bottom all the time you post.
