Great Thanks for the quick responses. I had a lap placed on September 6th 2007 and had to do a liquid diet for a week before the procedure to help fix a heartburn surgery that went wrong years ago. Anyways been trying to get creative on my meals, but only on liquids for another 2 weeks. Yesterday I pulled out the juicer as I have been craving a salad, I juiced everything that was in a salad and then added a pinch of vinegarette. That had to be one of the nastiest things I have ever eaten. 8month pregnant wife was happy to finish it off for me. Just struggling on the same old mundane things, Maybe I will start adding Tabasco sause to everything....lol.

Anyways thanks again.

I also had the lapband done, on 9/5. It's been kinda hard to eat everything pureed. I find myself eating less and less because i just don't want to eat pureed chicken!! I stick to the sugar free pudding's and jello. The branded protein drinks ie. slim fast are ok. I can't drink the whole thing though, it holds about 11oz.

I'm new to this site, but I'm a veteran when it comes to learning the hard way after WLS. I had my surgery in Dec 2003 and at the time was not a huge drinker. I liked to drink but never felt that I had a problem with it. After the surgery, my surgeon told me to stay away from beer, but never warned me about the issues around cross addictions. I guess that's what the psychologist is supposed to do, but I probably didn't pay much attention to that detail.
I became a full blown alcoholic after having the gastric bypass. I know I'm not alone, and wish the word got out about this problem.
All I can say is that if you use alcohol as a comfort...beware!! Once the food issue is gone, others will rear their ugly heads!
I've been sober since May 2006, and it's not been easy, but it's rewarding. I lost about 20 more pounds once I stopped drinking!!

Please do not start drinking. I am now 1 year out and have transfer my addiction from food to drinking. This is a major problem that is not talked about much. I have a major problem now so please take it from me DO NOT START DRINKING.......

Please start dealing with your real problems and do not transfer from one addiction to the other like so many of us have.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones and I can't drink because it hurts my lil pouchie! I have tried a few things, but nothing sits well. I have asked myself while drinking how do people transfer their addiction to this. Aren't addictions supposed to make you feel better in a sense? Drinking hurts to me! There is one thing for sure, I could NEVER be an alcoholic because I can't get enough of the stuff in to even get started! Whewwwwww, Thank God for miracles.
