Hey Trinket!
Welcome welcome welcome. Congrats to you - so good to see that you aren't getting too excited about this whole thing - I mean you wouldn't want to get over-keen would you?!
Dr Dillemans is absolutely wonderful and I love him to bits for changing my life! And don't worry about the ketosis thing - it does really only last a week tops and is such a small price to pay!
You are gonna rock this op with your uber positive attitude!
Feel free to ask any questions that pop into your head!

Thanks for great welcome everyone.
Sir Patrick, if I'd written 2 weeks ago - it would defo have been from grey, wet London - believe me...floods n'all (don't get a Londoner started on the weather matey - you know it's our most favourite topic...as well as 'Crop Rotatation in the 18th Century' ....or perhaps that's just me like I said, don't get us started ). However, as it's brightened up for the past few days - which is as near to sunny as we're getting this year - we've all made a swift beeline to the coast Whooosh ==}}.
I'm having a laprascopic RNY and I don't think a liquid diet is necessary - wahey!
Thanks again everyone!

What a great idea Gwen! I would love that! Let's get something organised. I'm thinking Alton Towers!

Going out of the country is just fascinating to me.
What is the plan as far as how far ahead you go before surgery, where you get your pre-op done, how long you have to stay after surgery, where you stay while out of the country, etc.
My question is not only for Belgium but all of you who have had, for any number of reasons, to go outside your own country for this miraculous procedure.
And trinket, good for you that you have such a great attitude. Everything is easier with a great attitude!!!!!
Best of everything on your journey!

That brugee meeting is great, me and celtic toni could do the uk, suppose
the reason i did Belgium was because Ireland has a 5-6 year waiting list and its a public waiting list which you have to prove you've tried to loose weight with medicine without medicine etc etc etc and then they might operate on you!! and its open only and your 3 weeks in intesive care... Brugge Dr D had operated on two of my friends and done a good job, its a quick procedure three days in hospital and its lap and there is no waiting list as you pay privatley!! So there is my reason

Welcome Trinket
Welcome to the forum... got so interested in your link to the British version of Thinner Times that I forgot to come back and say "Hi!"
I lived near Bury St. Edmunds for two years, and near Reading for three years, when first I and then my husband were stationed there with the American Air Force at Lakenheath and Greenham Common RAF bases. It was some years ago, but it was lovely--we both want to get back over there someday.
Congrats on your decision, good luck with your surgery...and welcome to Thinner Times.

Wow - party at Alton Towers sounds great! For all our non-UK friends this is Alton Towers: http://www.altontowers.com//content.php?areaid=1. Can't wait - and would be really good to see our Celtic friends and any other WLS'ers there too!
Hi LisaM - great to hear about your fond memories of England. What a small world! I remember a bunch of us visiting Lakenheath regularly back in 1986/7 because a friend was dating one of the Officers there. What a wild time we all had in the clubs on site - all good clean fun of course! - I must say the American soldiers were very gentlemanly and once even got together and prepared a beautiful picnic for us. Needless to say my friend ended up marrying the Officer and the wedding - in Bury St Edmunds - was a great laugh too. I remember wearing a silver wrap-round wet-look dress bright pink lipstick and had the most shocking curly perm - soooo 80's! Them were th'days...eh?
Also, lindsey78 I think your weight loss has been really good. It looks like some people do lose it quicker than others but, take it from a pre-opper, I'd be ecstatic to be doing as well as you!
Q. I don't know if I should be posting questions on another thread or here so please, let me know if I should be going elsewhere - anyway, another thing that has been bugging me is taking the vitamin supplements. My question is whether taking the vitamins orally risks them being mal-absorbed due to the bypass anyway? How do we get round that one?
Cheers all,
Trinket

Trinket, re your vitamin question.....just take what your surgeon instructs you to take. Important that you follow those instructions - actually ALL instructions - to the letter.
A lot of your questions will be answered completely when you go to Belgium, but in the meantime, fire away - always glad to help if we can!
