Hi Fonda,
I look at it this way--you can either lose the 14 lbs, have the surgery and live OR you can die sooner from all the heart problems obesity is causing you. Sorry to be blunt but if you've got congestive heart failure & they've had to do a heart cath that is a deadly disease. Getting the weight off is the most inmportant thing to save your life bottom line.
As far as liquid medications there are ways around it like disolving it in liquid, etc...
You need to research all the positives this surgery will do for you. It will save your health and you will be around for your family for much longer. Sounds like you are focusing on the negative aspects that fear brings.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. I haven't had surgery yet but have done tons of research to get to this point. I used to be against surgery but there comes a point where you have to face the fact that you cannot do this alone & need some help. That's what this surgery is.
Thanks,
Jeri

Hi Fonda,
Welcome.
It sounds like a lot of negatives going on there. Please try to find the positives in this situation for yourself. Remove can't from your vocabulary for awhile. The only way to GET through this is to GO through this. April 2008 will come, whether you're ready or not. You CAN do this if you really want to. We are here for you. If you're serious about losing those 14 lbs, why not try the super low carb diet like most of us do? IT WORKS! Put your 1200 calories a day to low carb options. You have some very serious health issues. You can die of them, or risk getting your life back with the surgery.
Good luck to you. Nobody but you can make this committment for yourself.
oh and Congratulations on the new grandbaby!

First of all WELCOME!!! YOu've been through the wringer. It sounds like maybe you have hit a plateau. If you have, you will start losing again, just keep at the 1200 cal. diet.
I can't tell you whether to have the surgery or not, just do lots of research. It is a major decision and will change your life and you must be prepared for that. In my case the chance at living longer and more comfortably far out weighed never have Pepsi again (and believe me, that is my addiction, I love Pepsi). It's a personal decision, but research and ask us questions. Maybe you can go to a local support group where you can talk to people IRL. Good luck.
