Hi everyone,
Thanks for the replies! Is Belgium the worlds capital for gastric bypasses??
I met dr. Himpens about 5 years ago (through a friend). I was a lot larger than i am at the moment. He advised me to do a lapband surgery (that was january 2002). Since then i lost about 40 kilo's (sorry, have no idea how many pounds that is

) A couple of months ago the lapband became very painful: couldn't eat properly and i constantly had pain high up in my back. That turned out to be a result of an extra pouch above my stomach. Because of that i gained about 10 kilo's again.
So, the lapband had to come out. Dr. Himpens advised a gastric-bypass, but i wasn't too sure (i love my chocolade

). After a couple of months the pain was getting worse, my weight was going up: so i decided to have the gastric bypass surgery. Between that decision and my actual operation, were about 3 weeks..
Last tuesday i had the operation, fridaymorning i was home again. Everything went fine, almost no pain!
Because this operation was a result of a complication with the lapband, the surgery didn't cost as much as normal (about € 5500). My insurance company will pay the bill!!
Dr. Himpens is really very good. He knows what he is doing. Around here he's the best surgeon you can get.
Lindsey: you went to Brugge? Dr. dillemans is nice isn't he? I met him at a wls-information day last july.
I know what you mean "go easy on yourself dont run when you know you should be walking!" I feel fine, so i do need to put on the brakes now and then
