New to Here
Hi all,
I am new to this forum. I had my surgery August 2nd. Started at 219lbs, 1 week later I was at 212lbs. I have an appointment at the doctors tomorrow for an official weigh-in as I believe my home scale is lying to me by about 10lbs. If it were true, I'd have dropped 26lbs in less than 3 weeks, I think it's more like about 16-17lbs. Glad to be here.

Welcome...from your username, can I guess you are in BC? I don't know of Dr Goodman? Where is he at?

Thanks
Thanks for the welcome. Dr. Goodman is in NYC and operates out of Beth Israel Medical Centre. I am from Ontario Canada. If I had waited for the surgery here it would have been nearly a 5 year wait. I'd been referred previously to two surgeons in Ontario and I never got a phone call in over 2 years. I have tried several diets and exercise programs and have severe sleep apnea and am hoping the major weight loss will help in that area too.
The surgery went well, I (luckily) did not experience a lot of the difficulties I've seen posted here. Even 'hell' week was not so bad, I think I used the liquid morphine once and then took a couple of tylenols another day. I went in Thursday August 2nd and was out of the hospital Sunday August 5th. I walked around NYC on Monday (for too long, I did suffer near complete exhaustion on Tuesday). I stayed around NY for my one week follow up and am now back in Canada.
The surgeon was fantastic and submitted everything necessary to my provincial health care plan and it was approved in a matter of weeks. Thank goodness for Dr. Goodman. I'd recommend him highly.

Welcome!
Looks like you're doing great so far! I'm happy to hear that there is a way for some of our Canadian sistahs to get the surgery in the US if they want! So many of you have to wait soooooo long for appts and surgery.....

Thanks to all and my scale wasn't that crazy
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the welcome. My scale was not all that crazy afterall - only off by a couple of pounds, I am down to 195lbs as of Tues. Aug. 21.
I am having a few problems with the puree/soft foods diet at the moment but I'll go look for the proper forum to ask those questions in.
I'm Kimberly, 42, single mom, 2 great kids, wonderful career and hopefully a declining balance in the scales to keep on coming!
