Hello! I'm delighted to find this forum. I had RNY gastric bypass surgery on 8/19/08. For the first 1-1/2 weeks I did great. I've been dealing with constant nausea that has made eating sufficient amounts and I haven't been able to return to work yet. I thought I would only be out a couple of weeks because I went back to work after gallbladder surgery 2 years ago in only 5 days. However this nausea, hot flashes and general weakness feeling is just not letting up too well. I've done better so far today, so hopefully I am turning around. I can't help but feel discouraged. I would appreciate any encouragement. Thanks again for this forum! I needed this very much!

Linda, my first suggestion is that you contact your surgeon's office and tell them your symptoms. Feeling horrible IS discouraging - you need to get to the bottom of it.
Best regards,

Linda,
Call your doctor right away. They'll know if something is wrong or not. It's better to be safe than sorry. Best of luck friend

Hi there! So I found you all yesterday so I would say I am a newbie! Here is my story...I have been overweight my entire life, as far back as I can remember. Not sure what age I was when I crossed over into obesity and then into morbid obesity. I did have 2 successful weight losses...50 pounds when I was in high school and then again 13 years later in 2002 I lost 80 pounds. I always gained everything back and then some. I am currently at my highest non-pregnancy weight and am miserable!
I completed all of the requirements by CIGNA and also did a sleep study which found my only co-morbidity of sleep apnea. Well, it took 3 days to get the denial because we didn't have 24 months of weight history, which I quickly got from my GYN and had it faxed in (I was pregnant during the time so I have lots of weight documentation, I hope they don't discriminate because of that!). So now I wait some more on pins and needles! Although I have been against surgery in the past, now that I have children I want to be a good role model for them and also enjoy playing with them without being so exhausted.
I am praying that I get to make this journey with all of you. I am so glad I found such a great support system. Wish me luck!
Lisa

I did follow up with my doctor and he ordered an upper GI x-ray which was thankfully normal. That was last week. They told me they didn't have anything else to suggest for me since the Rx they gave me didn't do any good. Thankfully and hopefully finally, the nausea has eased up and I took my first trip out for a bit of exercise and realized how weak I have become. 3 weeks of constant nausea made it near impossible to get enough protein and I am feeling the effects. However, I am definitely planning to work toward getting strength back so I will be able to go back to work. Thank you to all who replied to my message.

Support group
I'm looking for anyone in the Chicagoland area, possibly close to Joliet that has had GB surgery. I never followed through with the group I was appointed to when I had my surgery in 2000. I was just wondering how everyone's doing on their new life's journey. Thanks!
