Hi belizeandiva,

I did not have the lab band I had the Bypass, but I know someone who did and she seems satified with the results so far. In speaking to her recently, she is happy that she can eat many of the foods she enjoys and still lose weight. I wish you well and looking forward to hearing more about your journey.

Wink Thanks for the welcome!

I am new here having been told about the site from a friend who is a member. I had my bypass surgery in April of 04 and lost 118 lbs. It was a journey and there were plenty of times I felt as if I wished I hadn't done it but in the end I am pleased I made that decison for myself!

I have gained back around 17 to 20 lbs since the surgery and was just reading about the 5 day pouch test so I think I will try it! Just to be sure that everything is in proper order. Plus, my addiction to peanut M&M's cannot be good for my waist line!

Thanks again for the welcome and I hope to talk with y'all soon!

Default Hi Ragdoll!

Ragdoll has been my friend since we were in the 4th grade (1973-74). She and I share the same birthdate. We haven't seen each other in person in over 20 yrs, I think. We recently came across each other again. It is so great that time has not changed our friendship. I love u birthday sis. Welcome to the forum!

HI all, I recently joined and just wanna say I LOVE this website & im addicted to it. I had a few questions; my consult with the surgeon is Sept 4, and I wanted to know what test do I need to have done before surgery so I can do them now before I have my consult so I can rush the process. Also wanted to know is the psych test about? I am afraid i might sound NUTS and he might not give me the ok anyone remember what they ask you?

Hi KatPap, welcome to the forum.

I really can't answer your question, as I am going thru the VA to have this done. If someone doesn't come along and answer your question, you might try posting is elsewhere in the forum as not everyone reads this thread. Good luck!

Hi, Kat, and welcome!!

I love your enthusiasm!! Being a willing participant after your decision was made is so important to your journey!!!

Your questions are understandable, but not easy to answer!

The psych test is not a big deal. Just answer the multiple choice questions honestly, all the while thinking that you need to give the psychologist the infrmation he/she wants to see! Basically, the purpose is to make sure you are not so depressed that you can't function well enough to embrace this life-changing part of your life.

As to the tests/things you can do, you can't do anything prior to your surgeon's consult. He/she will ask you questions, and based on your answers he/she will order a regimen of tests for pre-op. Insurance approval is necessary also.

In the meantime, my suggestion is that you purchase "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies," (available inexpensively on amazon.com). You will find it an easy read, and it takes you through the various stages of this journey.

My own spin on this whole process is that it is a journey, not a destination. It changed my life for the MUCH better, and I am much happier. Everyone has problems to deal with - that's just how life is. However, I approach them differently, with more confidence. As I said, this surgery changes one's life. Embrace it, take it all in, follow directions from your surgeon to the letter. It isn't easy, and it is so worth it.

And the very best of luck to you!
