New and 9 1/2 days from surgery
I wish I would have found this forum earlier. I'm on an emotional roller coaster right now and I haven't even had my surgery yet. I'm already changing so fast and not everyone in my life is happy about it. I'm so grateful for this opportunity, but I don't know who I am anymore. Anyone else have this feeling?
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Sorry to say this, but the changes won't stop for quite a while. I found that some days I was physically and emotionally a different person each day...but in a good way, not bad. This surgery is such an adventure in everything from re-learning to eat to figuring out what size clothes to buy because you're shrinking out of them so fast, to dealing with jealous friends/family. Definitely a rollercoaster--but not one I'd ever skip!
You've come to the right place for answers, support and an experienced ear when needed. Good luck in your journey.

Hi and Welcome....I know you can do...We can both do it...My surgery is in two days, can hardly wait, but apprehensive and nervous at the same time...
Remember that you are doing this for you...For your reasons, probably including for your health, and to heck with what everyone else thinks...This is your life and your body....You are worth it!!...Others may be just trying to sabotage your efforts...
And this is the best place to go to for support...Good luck!

Welcome...
We're glad you're here... we can always use another Lisa! And yes, James has it right. Your changes are your own, it's other people's problem if they can't handle it. You're saving your own life, and you deserve respect for that... you'll get it here.

This is a whole new world, from the time you make the decision to be YOU, to have WLS and drop the shield of being overweight.
I am 4 months post op, and I am settling into a new me. Actually, it's a me that I recognized right away, a me that I was many years ago during a brief period when I was a normal weight. I just FEEL so much better! I hope (I know) you will have a similar experience!
It's a wild ride - HOLD ONNNNNNN!!!!!

Hi Lisa. I haven't had my surgery yet either...I am just beginning the process...but I do understand the rollercoaster of emotions. You can't let other people get you down. You're doing this for you and you need to keep that at the forefront of your mind. People are afraid of change and they're afraid of your changing. Stay stong & good luck!

Hi Lisa,
Welcome.
You may be experiencing the pre-op crazies! I went through them. Hold on for the ride of your life, you are about to go through many changes. Keep your head, and you'll do fine!

hi Lisa,
what you are going through is perfectly normal.... i have gone through this also, and i came here for support.... i am glad we have a place like this to come to.I had my surgery 4 days ago, and i feel good.... have no regrets and have not had the emotional rollercoasters yet, i guess i am just keeping busy with walking, sipping my liquids and over again....even though i dont see the weight loss yet because of the swelling still in my stomach, but i know from now on is down the hill.... and if i would have not done this it would most likely be up the hill..... so i know i made the right decision....
yes its a big change in your life.... food was our life... and actually before surgery i didnt think that i would miss food ( i didnt concider myself being a food addict, i just ate a lot) but 5 days being on liquids... ah... some food would be nice lol but its ok, i can do this.... i want that healthy, sexy, new me
hope you feel better
