Hi There! :)
Hi! Name's Jennifer... I just had gastric bypass performed on the 24th of July.
Just a few weeks out and I am already realizing that support is a MUST. Especially from those that have expierenced everything I am not going through.
Not to bore you, but I am married to a wonderful man. He is in the Army, and we are stating at Ft. Campbell, Ky.
I look forward to making some new friends on these forums and to hopefully glean some information from them

Hi Jennifer,
Good luck, you've come to the right place! I haven't had surgery yet but I've been checking everything out on this site while conducting research. These are wonderful people!
Also, give your husband my best. He has a difficult job in difficult times, tell him to BE SAFE if and when he is deployed. GODSPEED American Soldier!
Take care and keep us informed of your progress.
Les

Hi Jennifer. I haven't had my surgery yet either. I just found this board yesterday & know it will be crucial in my journey.
My son-in-law is in the Army also. He did boot camp at Fort Campbell & is now stationed at Fort Hood--which is only an hour from me (grandma) so that is awesome.
I look forward to going through this journey with you.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
I have received excellent care at the hospital on post... in fact it was much better than I was expecting from an Army hospital... the only problem I have faced thus far has been with information afterwards. My doctor has helped me more than my nutrionist... in fact my nutritionist doesn't even believe in WLS... considering he should be helping this is a total bummer.
I have to really credit this forum and the lovely people who have answered some of my questions and given loads of information from thier own expierences... this has been a LIFE SAVER!
THANKS!!!

Welcome...support is so important. I don't have local support (well not in my community) and this board has been a lifeline for me, along with meeting some amazing people who I feel I know so well, and who know me so well too.
Congrats on your surgery and come back here often...unless I am off line, I check in every day!

Jennifer!
Welcome to this message board. What a great source of friendship, understanding, and information. You have come to the right place!
And it is NEVER boring to hear about spouses and family. This is a very complex issue with all WLS'ers, some of us surprised and happy with the support we get, and others of us surprised and disappointed, and everything in between. And in particular, in your case, you obvious have the loving support of your ARMY husband. God bless him and his fellow Army unit, and all the units throughout the world, for keeping us safe. Whenever I see a person in military uniform, I go over and thank them. And by the way, I'm the wife of a retired Naval Officer (pilot).
Your comment about nutrition -- try to get hold of a book called Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. Great nutritional info, as well as lots of information and tips for success at every stage of this miraculous journey.
Best of luck!
