Default Chicago newbie

Chicago newbie I am new to the forum and like many here have been reading a few posts. I just had my open RNY 7-30-2007 and have stubbornly tried do work through all the problems by myself. My decision to have the procedure has been long weighted on, no pun intended for many years, once all the doors where opened and I finally had a date, I told myself that I didn’t need any type of forum or sound board to bounce ideas off, since then ( ten days ago), I come to realize that having a sound board via internet is far better than continuing to read books that I bought but never read or attempting to reorganize office files here at home, more so that some interaction and insightful wls experiences can be a definitely advantage. Today I am ten days out and very close to exiting “hell week.” that many of those who have the surgery all go through. I would be reminisced to give kudos to my beautiful sexy wife, she has been my biggest supporter/nurse and deserves a medallion for having the most patience, but even her support is not enough at times. Like many things you really can’t comment on them unless you have gone through it yourself. So this is why I am on the forum. I look forward to many discussion and upcoming milestones.

To my new life and new friends,

Regards Zee

Hi Zee! And welcome!

There is just nothing like this group for sounding off, sharing wow moments, and getting help when you need it the most.

I have a super supportive husband, and I agree that kudos go to our spouses. But clearly it is important to have a place to go where there is objectivity and, at the same time, a great deal of caring.

It's a wild ride - hold on, here you gooooooo!!!

hi zee!
Welcome, I like you already, giving credit where credit is due to your wife! You're doing a lot of the hard work yourself, so be sure to take a little of the credit for yourself!

Hey Zee!
What part of Chi-town are you from? I was born on the NW side, lived there, Franklin Park and lastly Arlington Heights. I still have lots of fam in those areas. I'm still a Cubs fan (poor me!)

Good to have you here--we are a great group of chosen family, and as such have occasional disagreements, tough love sessions, but mostly some of the most unconditional love you'll get with the exception of your dog. Many of us have made friendships that span the forum, and the long distance people love us for how we call each other when we sense trouble. We visit when we can, but our main contact is this board. You cannot ask a question that has not already been asked, and you cannot embarrass us with a particularly intimate question. We listen to rants, we are free with the attaboyz/attagrrlz when appropriate, and we have been known to generate some pretty powerful prayer chains.

Welcome to our group, and know that you will get as much respect and support as you give!

Hi Zee!
Nice to meet you! You are sooooooo right about the support at home making this possible. My wife and I did it two weeks apart so we were able to help each other and our (college-age) kids were a huge help. It's great that you are giving your wife the recognition she deserves. She sounds great!

Welcome!!!
