Smile New from Fort Worth

I'm a pre-op patient, going for my surgery in approximately 1 week (8/15). I stumbled on this site looking for post-surgery experiences. I have a friend who had the lap-band a little over a year ago and I have decided to go for it myself.

After looking around, I am very excited to find this site since I will not be able to attend support groups until December due to school.

I'm working on finish my degree and becoming an elementary teacher. As well, I having this surgery to lose weight and finally start my family.

I look forward to reading everyone's posts and getting to know others who can share their experiences.

Default Hey! Only 2 days until your surgery!!! Yea!

Hello!!!
Only a couple days left before your surgery!!!! Are you excited?

It's funny how we see parallels to our own experiences. I was an "old" college student and finished my bachelors degree a week after my surgery. I had to talk to my professors and get permission to take finals early, because I knew there was no way I was going to be able to do it immediately after surgery. They were all understanding.

Good luck on your surgery and on completing your degree!!!

Hi. I live in Round Rock so I'm a fellow Texan as well. You must be excited to be having your surgery so soon. I look forward to getting to know you & hear about your experience.

Default Welcome Hillary!!

We hope to have an update on how your surgery went as soon as you're able to post again!!

Hi there and welcome to the family!

I am also a newbie - only joined in July 2007 and still pre-opp.

As I know how intimidating this forum can be when you first start exploring it I thought I'd give all the newbies a few pointers as to the threads that made an impression on me:
