Unhappy A Real Newbie!

Hi! I havent scheduled anything at this point, but I have to have hernia surgery as I have a paraesphageal hernia that is causing some real problems, and so I mentioned to the Gastroenderologist that I was very interested in having the Gastro bypass surgery, and couldnt we just do both at the same time. Has anyone had this done? And which surgeon do you set this up with...hernia or gastro bypass?? I also think my insurance pays for hernia surgery but not gastro-bypass surgery. I live in Portland OR! Thanks!

Welcome to the board, I had a different hernia but I had mine combined at once. I had to have open surgery though. They fixed two hernias and did the GBP. I am loving life now! Wish you well on your journey!

Hi Sheri,
Welcome...your doc is most likely going to give you the best info at this juncture, but there's lots of great info here!

Welcome to the forum.. hopefully your doc will point you in the right direction.. and call your insurance company and find out for sure if they cover the bypass.. alot of them do.. it just has to be medically necessary. Best of luck to you!
