New to site; 4 days post surgery
Hello all. A friend of mine told me about your site. I thought now would be the perfect time to get on here as I just had gastric bypass on Monday. So many things have changed and are going to continue change that I know for sure I am going to need some help, and I hope that when I am a little farther out from surgery that I will be able to help others too. My surgery went well, and I went home next day and plan to return to work on Monday (1 week out). I do a desk job so this won't be a problem. I have found that I want to be 100% now so am worried that things aren't right. I haven't been able to eat much and have a constant "pit" in my stomach that I don't know is from lack of food, too much food, or just surgery in general. I have tried to take my usual medications, but can't get them down when they are crushed (GROSS) I know I can't go without, but don't know how to get around this problem. Thanks to all who took the time to read this, and I hope to get to know you all soon.

The office I work in is very small, a doctor, me and my friend who had RNY in May. Which makes my returning to work after 1 week much easier that most people, because of the support system. I know myself, the longer I stay home the harder it will be for me to go back, it's more of a mental thing with me. Thanks for the concern glad to know we are on the same team.

Wow, I went back to work at 2 weeks, and was super tired by the end of the day. You're pretty brave. Your tummy will feel better with each day that goes by. If you decide to take protein shakes or whatever to work, you can simply explain that you are trying to 'jump start' a healthier life.
Good luck!

Welcome to the board. I was given 6 weeks off.. and went back after a little more than 3.. and well.. pulled a muscle and am back out til the end of that 6 weeks... so just be careful with yourself! Take it from someone who thought they could do more than they should!

Congratulations on the surgery. I know what you mean about it being harder to go back to work the longer you're out. Good luck to you and I look forward to reading future posts on your progress. There is so much information, help, and support on this forum. Take the time to read the different sections.
