No - doc Hein still has the whole long shlep! (I am not opposed to the whole long shlep for the most part, but I know me and know I am in this for the right reasons and intelligent enough to follow post op instructions!)
I'll send Doc Vermaak a little mail and see... on the Discovery forms they ask for blood results etc and letter of recommendation for surgery from the surgeon. (May need to take an initial trip down to Bloem for that.)

If I can have a great surgeon without the wait AND have Discovery pay - then woohoo!!

Wow - i sent an email to him and got a reply already. They are sending me a fax with the Discovery forms and list of tests I'll need to do up here. She said (his wife I think) that have had good results with Discovery applications - they are good at approving!! And as soon as i get approval they'll book me!

Default Hi Vetkoek

Annie, my whole process took 6 weeks. From making the decision to having the op. Some surgeons insist on the whole 6 month diet thing but my surgeon was convinced with all my books I took with. I had the Weight watchers and weighless books as well as indepth knowledge of the Atkins, South Beach and various other diets. I could also give him a list of appetite suppresants. Thinking back I do wonder why he didn't pop me into Rehab

Johan Vermaak is a wonderful ( and very attractive man)- I have dealt with him through work.

Good luck!

Hou ons op hoogte ne!

Awesome! Thanks Celeste!
I was really dreading the whole process - especially the preop diet. I eat when I'm anxious so not much chance I'll cope while waiting for life altering surgery...
I made a list of all my diets and "miracle" pills and potions that I've wasted money on - 2 pages long... shocking. They should give me an honorary degree in dietetics - most of us I'm sure know more than dieticians know!

Of course I'll keep you in the loop... i need someone to listen to all my nagging and moaning!

Oooh and he's 'n bietjie oulik too... extra motivation to make a trip to the centre of South Africa!
